Anyone run across a write-up showing the removal process for the front bumper cover?

I’ve done this before on many mustangs, but given the camera, washer, and lower cooling ducts I’m hoping to find a detailed write-up or documentation for this.

Hey Shawn. I made a couple of PDF's on the front bumper removal and the frunk storage compartment removal from the Mach-E repair manual. Hope this helps.

I appreciate you sending this. They were a couple of items in there that I had not planned for. The removal was easy. I am curious, which repair manual did you acquire? I am looking for something just like this to have for future reference.

I repair my own vehicles as long as it isn't a warranty repair or something too major.

I have always used this site to buy all my repair manuals from: https://www.factory-manuals.com

I am 100% aligned with you on that. Thanks for the link. I’m tinkering with some things as I type :)

Thank you for this!!! Yeaterday came back from lunch to my car being hit and no note, bumpe cover paint is damaged and it's sticking out a bit, was looking for how to undo it and put it back together so I can then take it to the shop for a repaint or touch up.

By chance, is there a way to remove the grill cover insert w/o removing the entire front bumper cover? Deer hit us last night and spiderwebbed the insert. Lucky that was all.

No, not at all. There are tabs all the way around the the center grill that poke through the bumper cover. Most of the tabs have a small locking tab that you need to release from the back side but 4 of them have pins that go through that you need to remove. So it is impossible to remove that center grill without taking off the bumper cover unless you want to destroy those parts.

What if I carefully cut the damaged grill insert into pieces? Think I could then release the tabs or snip them off without damaging the female receptacles that they snap into? No reason to try to save the original broken insert.

You could probably remove it that way, but in order to reassemble it you would likely still need access to the back side due to the pins in the 4 locations that @markboris referenced. ??

Hi,
Could you explain a bit more? When I look at the replacement insert, it doesn't have anything fastening it to the bumper cover but the clips.

I won't be home today until very late tonight. I think it would be best to send you a photo of the back of the GT grill so you can see what I am talking about. I have one (or two) extras and can post a photo tomorrow morning.

Whoops! Disregard my last query. I missed this reply.

I do have this photo that may help understanding how the center grill attaches but I can still send a photo of the back of the grill tomorrow.

If you zoom in on the bumper cover, you can see slots all the way around (some are buried) but there are a lot of them. Probably 25 or so. Then if you zoom in even more, you can see the front grill I removed off of the bumper cover and it is sitting on the tire on the floor. You can see some of those tabs on the grill.

I always love when people post pictures of nice garages, especially with carpeted floors. Those would not last in Michigan...
