Hi,

Apologies if this is already answered, but I could not find any concrete information regarding this issue. Only some whispers about a loose camera harness or software update issue.

Anyway, I keep getting Front Camera Fault / Pre-collision Assist disabled messages appearing on my cluster. BlueCruise also becomes disabled once this error occurs. The issue appears intermittent, and often goes away on its own after a few minutes. This leads me to believe its not a physical obstruction, but rather a loose connection.

Is this is known issue or recall? If so, can anyone link me to the documentation regarding the issue. I took my vehicle in to the dealer last week and the service tech cleared the fault codes and states that no issues were found and it was a result of a dirty camera, which in my opinion was BS, since I already cleaned my front cameras beforehand, and also wouldn't explain the intermittent faults.

Did you previously have the windshield recall performed? I remember seeing posts on this forum where a careless tech pinched the camera cable upon re-installing the windshield.

no, I believe the windshield is original. I purchased the vehicle used about 6 months ago, but the issue just started happening within the last few weeks

It could still be the original windshield, but 2021s had a recall where they determined that not enough adhesive may have been applied at the factory. The solution was to remove and re-install the same windshield with the proper amount of adhesive. But, if it's been working fine for ~6-months, then probably not the cause of your issue.

I dealt with this same issues for months and brought the car into the dealer 5 times to be repaired. On the last visit, they changed the entire coaxial cable. Since then, the problem has not re-occurred. Hoping that is the final cure.

It's a known issue. Had my take care of last year but I had to wait longer since they weren't in stock (the coaxial cable). They honored the issue since my car initially was within 36K when I first tried to get it fixed but another dealership that had the cable in stock was going to try to charge me. I hope you are still within the 36K or you may have to pay, depending on the cause. Good luck.

I've mentioned having this same intermittent problem in a few other threads. About 5 minutes into my 3rd day of a 13 day trip, the error have become persistent. I have no ADAS capability now for he rest of my trip. I am pretty sure it's a coax cable issue since when intermittent, it always gave the faults after running over bumpy roads.

I will take it in for service as soon as I'm done with my trip. I'll provide updates of my repair experiences. Hopefully the fact that it's now persistent means it's easier to diagnose.

I received the front camera/collision assist fault error and took it to the dealer. They kept the car for a week but said it's now fixed. Is there any way to test it out other than almost hitting something and seeing if I get a warning?

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

My car is now working again after spending 24 days in service (Jul 2 - 26).

They fixed the errors mentioned in the title. It appears they did this by replacing 2 cables and the IPMA. The notes look like they replaced one item at a time following a procedure, checking to see if it worked after each replacement. This was fixed under my extended warranty. My left A pillar cover isn't fully seated, so I'll either take it back or have a look myself at fixing that.

I also had my wireless phone charger stop working and they replaced that module as well and it's now working again. This was fixed under my extended warranty.

It also needed 50k miles service so they rotated the tires and did standard checks there.

Edit: I thought I'd add a breakdown of the timeline: 2.5 weeks getting approval for repairs and 1 week of repairs. Your experience might be different.

Ouch - that’s a long time. Did they give you a rental? I’m getting this error now pretty consistently, but not eager to lose my car for weeks…

They had no loaners for me. The extended warranty does apparently cover a rental, but I had a car I could borrow from a friend, so that's what I used.

Why can’t Ford fix this camera fault? I tried blasting it with washer fluid and that didn’t work.
