How remote?

If you have PAAK set up, you should be able to do it through the app. If you have a key fob from the Lightning, you could do it from the fob near the car. Also from the B pillar button panel if you have an unlock code set up.

Yes, you can do this either inside the car or with the FordPass app.

From inside the car, tap the settings icon along the top of the screen. On the main page you'll see a picture of the car ... in the upper-right corner of that picture (contrast isn't great so it's easy to miss) is a button to open either the rear hatch or frunk.

From FordPass ... You must be within bluetooth range and connected to the car. Assuming you've selected the right car (I have two cars in my FordPass but most people only have one), tap the Vehicle icon on the bottom of the screen, then tap the Bluetooth Controls button. This opens a page to reveal buttons to open the rear hatch, the front trunk, or roll the windows up or down.

There is also a way to do this from the keyless entry keypad on the drivers door frame. You enter your personal code (or the master code) and then follow that with one more button press (it'll be a 5-6 or the 7-8 or the 9-0 ... I just don't recall which extra button has to be pressed and it's not in the manual.) Pressing 7-8 with 9-0 at the same time will lock the car (you don't have to enter your personal code or master code to do this.)

Enter your code, then the 7-8 button unlocks the frunk.

Note that there was a rash of actuator failures a couple of months back. If I am in the car I use the mechanical release instead of the center screen button to reduce the number of cycles the actuator sees. ??

Ford thanks you for proactively helping protect their shortcomings.

alternatively, do the opposite so you get a fresh one before the warranty is up!

Wot? Lets just hope that doesn’t happen. Especially to those who use their frunk all the time.
