The way I found it work... bring the hood all the way down and it will rest.. push in the center down and you will hear it lock. Worked for me a few time I did it.. and it does not need too much force.

That sounds like how it SHOULD be. Mine and some others’ must have something wrong with the way the closing latch was set up. I’m going to pursue this later with my dealership.

Yeah have them check it... for most things MME no one knows what’s right or not right

Had to slam mine. Dropping it from any height was no go and neither was pushing down after half latched -the metal was deforming so I didn’t push any harder. Wonder if it’s just a break in thing but also see the paint wear on the latch.

That’s not gonna work on mine.

Sounds just like mine. I don’t want to settle for being discouraged from using it regularly. :-/

I think it's not intuitive, but once you figure out the right way to do it it's easy. I won't be discouraged from using it. But I also don't see a regular use for it often

Same here, opened it yesterday and could not figure out how to close it according to the manual. After giving up I just gave it a good push, but it's not a light push either.

Should work like the manual says which is would stop you from man handling it.

You don't need a lot of force. Just put your hand on the hood on top of where the mechanism is, and push down

Tired it, was not simple as it should be. I got it, just had to push with two hands about 12 inches apart. Im sure there are a few ways to go about it as others have noted.

Yeah it's not simple, and not what is in the manual, but once you get the hang of it it's easy

Agreed. At one of the Mach E Tour events I learned the initial reason the drain was installed was to allow the air to escape. Once there as a solution to one problem, they moved it to the bottom and it became a feature.

If you close the hood and it doesn’t go all the way, you can give it another hard push and it will latch the rest of the way.
Yep. The one I closed on the Machetour closed perfectly from about a 12"drop. Mine won't. I have to keep applying force to slam it down.

Honestly, I don't care if it's airtight. I'm tempted to drill an airhole. I won't actually do that, of course, but I might try seeing if I can stick something to indent the soft seal to create a little air gap.

Maybe it loosens itself up on its own after use. Could be why the tour car closed easier.

My experience is the same. The only way I can get it to latch is to accelerate it downwards and take my hands off just before contact.

It sure would be cool if you get it to the first latch and then a mechanized pulley of some sort took over from there and closed it to the proper tightness.

So I had the same trouble closing my frunk initially, however I tried putting the pressure right smack in the middle instead of the sides of the latch and it closes easily that way. I was telling my son who owns a Tesla and before I finished, he said to just push down in the middle —and then called me a frunk newbie.
Got to try that, being a frunk newbie myself
