I mean if the dash cam stopped working without being noticed, I could miss important recordings in case of accident.I don't think the dash cam not working would be dangerous. the dash cam has nothing to do with any of the systems like lane keeping etc. the dash cam just records your driving and is an added accessory. mine is the FITCAMX which is integrated into the area behind the mirror and is powered off the rain sensing for the wipers so no plug in to the USB ports. My radar detector and after market wireless charger weren't working and that's how I found out the USB ports were dead. after my appointment I started the car up and all was fine, but I will keep an eye on it.
In my case just a sync reset fixed the problem. Yours sounds like something else.
