In the defense of this asshole, he had to unplug to move, and then plug in again, and with the current state of chargers reliability, who knows if it's going to work again, especially with the Rivian sucking up all available power.

Yes, I am trying to be nice even to assholes...

True, but it appears there was no reason whatsoever for him (or her) to have parked like that in the first place - can't even argue they were forced into it by someone to the right. He/she is a jerk for parking so thoughtlessly and then refusing the move when someone needs the next space.

People are aholes. And this is just going to get worse. I could totally foresee myself totally blowing a gasket and throwing punches at the very least at the MachE ahole.

Who knows if he was blocking the other spot on purpose? Because it's a shared charger, his charge rate would cut in half when somebody else plugs in. So he probably wasn't happy about that.

Either way, I don't condone this behavior. Not cool to block someone else from charging, even if it means you slow down. Park between the lines.

I think his plate is short for Very Odd Ignorant Person...

In some parts that kind of behaviour will get your car keyed...well done Rivian Guy for keeping his cool.

This happened to me last month with a Tesla Model Y. When I asked the guy to move he said "But I'm charging..." I said "Yep, and I can't" He moved, but really didn't want to. He was also parked between two spots.

That 350 kw charger can easily support the Rivian at 200kw and the MME at 150kw. His rate would not get cut at all.

Just wait until Tesla opens their network, the charge port locations and short cables will multiply the anoles by a big factor.

Not quite, they're limited by amperage (not kW), so when the power modules split in half they become 270A max. The Rivian will top out at about 120 kW and Mach-E will be about 100 kW if they are both going at the same time on one of those Delta chargers.

Huh, all of those 350kW Delta chargers around me split the power down to 200 amps when both hoses are in use, which happens to be exactly how many amps the smaller Delta chargers put out. It doesn't make sense to me, since the chargers advertise a rate of 540 amps to the car (according to OBD)...

I think everyone is correct in this case. I also don’t know the reason the Rivian owner couldn’t use the other chargers, that was not explained. They are slower, but sometimes it takes longer to get in an argument rather than save 8 minutes on a charge

He should have never plugged in with his car parked that way to begin with

My apologies to the world for the behavior of the idiots from PA! unfortunately living in N. Delaware I have suffered their rage many a day.
Granted not everyone in PA acts like that but it is more common than not.
Hopefully those of you here also from PA understand that I am not picking on anyone specifically because this behavior is more common place all over the US!
Lets all be courteous and respect others as you would have them respect you.

Tony
I think we need more information from the MME driver. If the Rivian driver had indicated in anyway, that he was a cowboy fan, then F off is the proper response - especially now that football season has begun!

The MME was lucky to see 100+ for any length of time most likely. So the Rivian plugging in and dropping the MME to 100 is no change or very minimal. (I don't know how good the EVGo network is, because it's never working when I try...)
