So this just happened to me today. Currently have a 30 minute drive with my hood non stop beeping all cause I tried to put my groceries in front.

Did the dealer need to do any other repairs?

My advice is to get the frunk open, and then close it until you can get it scheduled at a dealership for necessary repairs. As long as you can get it back closed you can continue to drive it until the dealership has available parts. You will not be able to just close it back down; you have to open it all the way from the second latch to then be able to close it. If you are able to get something back behind the latch then you can likely trigger the mechanism to release it.

I just got my vehicle back from the repairs. They had to replace the latch system. The parts were backordered for an estimated 1-2 month timeframe from Ford, but they were able to get the parts a bit sooner from another dealership.

They don't answer questions here. They just collect your VIN and dealer info. What happens after that, I have no idea.
They did open the case for my cracked windshield. Then someone from Ford called me and said they can't do anything unless the car is in a dealership. And the dealership I went to was firm they can't do anything about windshield so I can't leave the car there.

Unfortunately this just happened to me as well.

Is there a diagram somewhere of the latch? Closest dealer is an hour away from where we are right now so hoping to be able to open it and then fully shut it to make that drive.

SOLUTION!!! This has happened to me twice more than a year apart. On the first occasion I looked at threads like these, and felt like there was no hope without dealership service. On both occasions, I had to take the key away to lock the vehicle to reset the status of the funk. Then I pressed the hood down, not too hard and allowed it to release just as I pressed the app button for the frunk. The hood opened after a few attempts and I made sure to let it drop from a height to close completely.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me. Used Fordpass to open the run, and tossed my computer and lunch in, the same as I've done for two years now, and noticed the hood didn't fully latch. Tried all the usual tricks, pushed down firmly, no latch, tried the internal level, no tension no release, tried sitting on it and releasing using the frunk button on the phone, no luck.

Got an appointment for right away at the local dealership (Walnut Creek Ford) and their techs couldn't get it open using the 12V jumpers, or few ways I tried. Now, I'm stuck waiting at dealership while they remove the front fender and go in from the side. Boy with this car fails, it does so in a pretty inconvenient way. Ugh.

If they thought that would work, I’d be concerned about their MME knowledge. You may want to direct them here:

When I rolled in, they didn't want to believe the latch was no-op, so they ran through whatever SOP they had for figuring it out, regardless of what I said. I explained I had driven 20 min. to get the car too them and my scanner showed the LVB SOC was at 76%, but nothing deterred them.

That being said they did manage to retrieve my bag after a few minutes and confirmed it was the electronic latch that will be replaced tomorrow.

As single point failures go, this is a bit of a doozy, though given the contactors in the HVBJB not very surprising.
