Today's update:

Dealer has the striker and the latch, but not the actuator. They tell me the actuator must also be replaced if you replace the latch, they're single-use parts.

They think the actuator might be on the FedEx truck today (and not backordered), but that will mean my car will be done at earliest tomorrow -- we're now up to 19 days out of service for lemon-law-qualifying warranty repairs with 18 months.
FWIW, a few weeks ago my wife saw me watching your channel. When I told her that Mach N Cheese is out of commission, she was devastated...so I really hope you get it back soon :).

Supposedly they have all the parts as of this morning, but I've gotten no SecurAlerts yet so I might need to be a squeeky wheel to get my car back today like they said would happen.

Yes was thinking about that horn button on FordPass, but I decided to text my service advisor, who actually is responsive. That's definitely a plus.

So he said that the Mach-E apparently has "two latches" which he wasn't aware of, so they have all the parts except for a second latch (?). I gotta look in the shop manual now, my BS detector went off. He did say he would give me a call this afternoon when this second latch is supposed to be in.

So no triumphant return of Mach N Cheese today, and we're now going to be up to at least 21 days of the 30 before the car can be lemon lawed in California. I don't want to have to do this, but..........

It’s a “hood”, like an ICE car. It has two latches.

Did they order the second latch originally, or did they just discover it needs a second latch? Did they check the flux capacitor, too?

You mentioned this is Sunnyvale Ford and it has the best service in the BA? This makes me nervous because that's the closest dealer to my house, and I guess the one I would consider for service. It's not the one I bought from, because their sales dept was insufferable, especially with the ADMs that they had in the Summer (and now with the spam e-mails due to the large stock of Mach-Es they have sitting on the lot).

1. Anderson is a good service advisor, and they did a good job on my first (very early! April 2022) HVBJB replacement, before it really was a known thing.

2. I have not used other Ford dealers in the area for service, but there's been decent communication with Anderson. It is unclear if they ordered everything, and it's just coming in at different times, or they forgot to order something. Anderson told me about the second latch only this morning, but he told Ford CS when they called him late yesterday they had everything ready to go to complete the job by end of day Tuesday. I'm keeping it pleasant and not cross-examining him right now, nothing much I can do about it.

3. Sunnyvale Ford was comically slimy in their sales department. I got Ford thru an executive to yell at them because they were going to reneg on my deal they gave me in writing to charge me ADM on my ordered car. They then were very pleasant to me.

4. The best service experience is to NOT NEED to bring your car in for unscheduled service. In this regard, my Mach-E is woefully unacceptable. I feel like I bought a tempermental Italian car at this point, where I love it when I'm driving it (and forgetting about the last time something broke), but I'm starting to wonder what is going to fail next.

Yeap, but it looked to me like there's one latch assembly that contains both of them. And they told me / Ford CS when they called yesterday afternoon that all of the parts were in.

Here's the repair manual, there's one hood latch assembly / part. So I call mild BS that they're lying and there's some other reason why my car isn't done today. Just gotta hope for the best as I cruise in my dirty white interior Mazda CX5 rental car!

From my experience with this it was just one mechanism they ordered. It double latches, but in one mechanism.

Yeah I hope my car isn't getting sent to a body shop today.... Clearly there is some clown show going on here.

I personally think they're just keeping your car so they can stage it out front and have a huge sign up saying "Pictures with the FAMOUS MACH 'N' CHEESE"

This must be it!

The dealership looks like the Mexican Ford plant parking lot right now -- there's plenty of non-famous Mach-Es, all priced like it is early 2022. I counted at least 10 when I visited last week.
