So I'm just throwing this out there to see if it's a common thing or just me:

2 driver profiles configured, with my wife being profile 1 and mine is profile 2.

. Each of us has our own key fob and our own cell phones configured in our profile.

Often I take the car on an errand myself. After returning to the car in the lot, I unlock it using my fob, get in the car, start it, and about half the time it sets the car to user profile 1, even though my wife's phone or fob is nowhere near the car.

If we both get in the car with our phones, it's a crap shoot. And the car always connects to the phone that was connected when the car was last turned off.

This all makes me wonder what's the point of even putting the phone into the user profile, as it seems to be pretty much ignored.

Anyone out there having the same oddball issues, or is something broke?

i have the issue maybe 10-20% of the time, but the button is right on the door seems to easy to press i never even bothered investigating...

to ask the obvious, are the fobs and PAAKs tied to your profiles in the car menu?

There have been a few threads about this over the years. Here's one: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/be-careful-with-paak-and-key-fobs.37730/

As you seen in that thread, I deleted my wife's profile because of it, since she only drives the car occasionally. But as I took our Highlander Hybrid on a big road trip by myself last week, we had set up a new profile for her. I have decided to leave her profile in the car again until it causes me problems, since there has been some reports of an OTA maybe fixing at least some of the issues.

I don't think which profile is which number has any bearing on the issue, because my profile was #1 and hers was #2. We never set her phone up as a key. But there were even times where I would drive to a store without her fob or phone anywhere near the car, and I would come out from the store and find the car in her profile.

If it does it to me again, I will just delete her profile again. But that isn't a luxury afforded to couples who both drive the car regularly...

I think having key FOBs and PaaK in the mix really sets off a good bit of inconsistency. We know the FOBs typically work and are recognized from farther away. I noticed some of the problems went away when everyone in my family was using just PaaK. Even then, it is not consistent between who unlocked the car and what profile it picked. On occasion, the seat position won’t move even when the profile changed. Definitely first world problems, and the majority of the time pushing the profile button 1,2, or 3 fixes it.

I used to have this problem all the time on my old Pixel 7 Pro. Ever since I upgraded to another phone and set up a new PaaK profile, no issues. Perhaps a factory reset of your phone may help as a last resort?

Oh yes, pressing the button does take care of it. It's just bizarre to me that when I unlock the car with the fob assigned to profile 2, and have the phone assigned to profile 2, and neither fob 1 or phone 1 is within miles of the car, it still sometimes reverts to profile 1.

I did notice after posting this that there have been plenty of other rants out here about this, so I don't feel unique..... :)
