I have the 2021 GT, ordered it before the GT even went into production and waited 10 months for it and I love it, but I don’t love paying this kind of money for a car that I can’t drive. Which makes the fifth time in four months going to the shop. It’s getting very aggravating since it only has 20k miles on it. Yesterday it charged for 6.5 hrs on a 220 with the Ford charger and got 29% charge. The charger turns orange and the car starts humming loudly. I bought it to drive but if I can’t get a charge it makes it hard to drive. And I noticed I’m not the only one with this problem. I don’t want to hear we aren’t supposed to use the ford charger daily, if that’s the case then be specific on that before people buy the car. And I only charge about 1-2 times a week anyways. I don’t want to hear we’re only supposed to charge to 80% bc that isn’t what the car is advertised at, it’s advertised at the 100% charge mileage. I also have a door fault error code and the part to fix it has been on back order since June. I’ve gotten the powertrain / battery temp error five times in the last year and there is nothing scarier than driving down the expressway with a car that is telling you it can shut off at any moment. Took it to the dealer up north the first time I got the error and they told me that the only guy that knows anything is out sick so to just drive it 2.5 hours home and hope for the best.
Then the dealer I was taking it to told me that they will no longer give loaners to people with progressive Insurance so I found a new place whom will give me a rental but my warranty only covers 10 days of a rental. Now I don’t feel safe driving anywhere far from home for a fear of not getting enough charge. It does this at my house, at my cabin, and on the fast chargers. I know this bc it took me almost seven hours to get home from a four hour road trip. I had nothing to say except good things about this car and I do love the car I’m just not happy that these important kinks weren’t worked out before they sold these cars to the public.

update: my car was found to have a bad charger. The issue with it slowing down with the fast dc charger has now also been loaded into our cars as an update so that 30 min before we use a dc charger we can program the car to prepare itself for the fast charging without overheating. BUT I was told the replacement chargers are on back order, I called BEV whom put me on hold to call my service guy for the part number. By the time he came back on the phone they told me that my service guy had hunted down an available charger out of state and will have it by Monday. All is happy on the home front again….. for this week lol

Have you called the BEV team?

Not sure how much this helps but it can’t hurt,

It is important to contact the BEV team. They may or may not be of any assistance but if this is escalated to a Lemon Law the first question Ford Corporate will ask is did you contact us. Implying they could have fixed this if you had let us know. This may affect your claim or reimbursement of attorney fees.

You have more patience that I do. My first Mach E was in the shop twice, and each time I had a file opened with the BEV. During the long, second stay at the shop, I asked Ford to buy back the car. They did, and offered a nice buyback.

Unfortunately it doesn’t fall under the lemon law bc it’s over one year old but it does qualify under the warranty law.

There is a service bulletin regarding charging issues. Has your charge port been replaced? All of the module reprogramming completed?

I don’t want to hear we’re only supposed to charge to 80% bc that isn’t what the car is advertised at, it’s advertised at the 100% charge mileage. I feel sales people as well as service techs should have gotten much better training on these cars. I also have a door fault error code and the part to fix it has been on back order since June. I’ve gotten the powertrain / battery temp error five times in the last year and there is nothing scarier than driving down the expressway with a car that is telling you it can shut off at any moment. Then the dealer I was taking it to told me that they will no longer give loaners to people with progressive Insurance so I found a new place whom will give me a rental but my warranty only covers 10 days of a rental. Why should I have to pay for a rental when this car clearly has issues out of my control as well as all the other people having the same issue with the car not charging. Now I don’t feel safe driving anywhere far from home for a fear of not getting enough charge. It does this at my house, at my cabin, and on the fast chargers. I know this bc it took me almost seven hours to get home from a four hour road trip. I had nothing to say except good things about this car and I do love the car I’m just not happy that these important kinks weren’t worked out before they sold these $65-70k cars to people that depend on using them to get to work to pay for the car! Then to top it off the dealership gave me a Mach e rental and told me that they couldn’t sell it to anyone so that is why they made it a rental. It’s not a sought after car already and now I’m going to have all of these service visits on my carfax when I do want to trade it in. Plus I put $25k down on it. I’m not interested in taking a loss but it’s looking that way.
Fix the charging issue please and spread the word to the dealerships on how to do it so we can have the reliable product we paid good money for or recall the car.
After 3 attempts to fix, use the lemon law and just get a new car without the loss of finances.

Good morning. Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your preferred Ford dealer so I can look into this charging concern? Thank you!

The dealer is obligated to contact Ford especially when servicing under a current warranty vehicle. The consumer is usually not obligated to take further steps in some weird attempt to let everyone know at Ford there is a continuous problem. (Not legal advice)

Thanks I did that today after I was told my new charger is on back order. The BEV CS rep called my service guy why I waited on hold and when he came back on the phone he told me that my service guy had already hunted down a new charger out of state and was having it shipped now. I also now have direct contact info for the BEV CS guy for any further issues I may have. So thank you for the advice. I would have never found the BEV team in my own.

I'm going through something similar. Also very impatient. My HVBJB went bad two week after buying my 2023 Mach-E Select. It was replaced TWICE during its stay with Ford Service in Monterey. I got it back in October and a few days ago SVS lights came up and I got all the same alerts on my app I got for the HVBJB issue. And yes, they did clear out the codes when they replaced it the second time.

How long did your buy back take? My BEV rep (same one I used back in August) left a voice mail on 30-Nov-2023 to let me know he was starting my buy back request. I was hoping to get into a Tesla before the end of the year to take advantage of the $7,500 rebate before it gets reduced and Tesla is offering six months of free charging for deliveries made before the new year. Did they also offer you your payments back?

I was told the buyback would take three weeks to process, and it only took four days!

Yeah dealerships don’t care opened a case gave it to the service and that flat out refused to call. Case manager was no help 4-6 weeks any time I needed something sent videos and pictures of the issue dealership kept it for a week and said can’t reproduce the problem and gave it back., case manager doesn’t return phone calls or emails worst customer service ever on both sides. Glad I leased as 6 months I have no plans to buy it or buy another Ford.
