Well, I tried. I got my Mach E First edition in March 2001. In that time I took several road trips of more than 600 miles. In the past 18 months it was flawless but I just had it towed for the third time. All tolled it has been in the shop 5 weeks with electrical issues that made it impossible to operate. Once it took 2 days to find an operator that could even get it on a flat bed. Until this car, which I've really enjoyed, I've owned 46 different cars and trucks. This is the first and only vehicle that has been towed for an operating malfunction (one wreck in 1959 was towed). Now, I'm done. The lack of reliability has done it. I'm really afraid to travel anywhere now. It's being replaced by an inexpensive "armageddon" cuv, a Ford Bronco Sport Badlands currently on order. Ta Ta!

Damn, and here I am still trying to get my HVBJB to fail. I have poor luck attaining failure :(
LOL I recently started myself with no blown HVBJB. Problem is that I have gotten used to driving like there’s an egg shell between my foot and the go pedal. 🤪🐩

March 2001, wow - I'd say 22 years is a good run!

May I ask why Bronco sport? The interior is cheap. The off road capability is not impressive. It is not special at all. The resale definitely won't be the same as a real Bronco. It feels like an escape wearing a bronco badge to me.

You should get a real Bronco. I know the cost difference is significant. But you do not seem to be cash strapped since you could afford MME FE.

Definitely don't agree on the off-road not being impressive. It seems to do great for its class. Obviously the Bronco is better, but the Sport will do what most people are comfortable doing with a brand new vehicle.

The interior isn't the best, but it isn't much different than the MME. The Bronco is awesome, but unless you are actually going to put it in offroad situations that the Sport can't handle, which most won't, especially someone coming out of an MME, you are just getting terrible fuel mileage and paying more so you can say it could do more off-road.

what I am trying to get through to OP is that it is not really about common sense. If common sense prevails, we should all buy economic Toyotas etc. Bronco sport still feels to me like one of those million SUVs on the road. Bronco on the other hand, is a real hardcore off roader that is definitely excessive for daily use. I am pretty sure 90% of Bronco and Wrangler owners never even see dirt on the tire. But the excessive specialty is exactly what makes it interesting. Slap on the 35" tires, drop the top, and have fun even if you are only crawling to the mall. I would definitely consider a Bronco if I don't drive 25K miles per year.

It's all I need to survive Armageddon for 3-4 days. If you go to Youtube you'll find it is most capable, mores that its competitors and it will suffice for where I want to go. I won't be doing any serious rock climbing. . For Example. I've owned 46 cars/trucks as I said. I could get a new Porsche Carrera if I wanted it. I've owned a Gwagen, 5 other Benzes, 3 BMWs, and a Porsche... Basically I just want a reliable car that will take me and the dog where I want to go and that I won't care if it's dirty or get upset when someone spills grape juice on the seat. Let's just say I grew up a little.

I sold my Mach-E for the same reason. Prior to the Mach-E I had a mini cooper that was a ton of fun to drive, but was aging and i needed something reliable as I now take long trips (3hr+) up to my cabin in the mountains and didn't want to break down.

The Mach-E was unreliable, and just generally let me down, a lot. It was extremely buggy, the tech never worked, and had charging issues. Enough was enough, i don't have to deal with this stuff on a 60k car.

I sold it and got a Tesla. Prior to the Mach-E, i was not a fan of Tesla. I will NEVER (EVER) own a Ford again.

I don't feel quite the same. I really like the car and this last failure turns out to be a TSB recall a week later. So I'm not alone. After a month or two, I mastered all the tech that I wanted and just treated like any other care I've ownedThe quiet is nice (I drove a MachOne last week and loved the sound of it just not ALL THE TIME). My first car was a 1957 Ford Fairline 2dr hardtop, 3 on the tree with OD and a Thunderbird Special V* with a huge Holly 4bbl. Still can't get my head around Elon and Tesla. Just not my cup'o.At 80 my new Bronco Sport badlands may be the last car unless I live to 83. Then I'll likely go back to an EV.
