This is probably not a good idea, but we did make it into our garage about 2 minutes after this message appeared. Bad planning….120 mile trip with 150 on GOM.

Hills can eat your charge off pretty quick. As can the wrong kind of weather.

Yep. High speed, low temps, I always wondered what would happen when the juice ran out, I wonder how much further it would have gone.

Never trust GOM - look at battery SOC and your actual consumption. I usually travel in CR1 and if I’m leaving home with 100% SOC I know that I have range 200-220 miles depending on weather and speed.

At what point did you start to drive super conservatively wondering if you’ll make it?

Also curious what kinda warnings the car gives at different points. I think the lowest I’ve been since 2021 was 45% if you don’t count the 18% the car had when they delivered it (dealer couldn’t figure out how to charge it).

You know you're an early adopter when...
Legit.

They even showed me- “we had it plugged in all night and nothing happened!”

They weren’t using the charger that came with it and was a simple L2. Thinking back I don’t even know what they did wrong either. Maybe they didn’t have their charger set up or something. ?‍♂

I had the nav suggest a charging stop which would have had me arrive with 1 km of range...for sure that would have been 0%.

I asked it to try again please....

Probably around 8-10 miles it started getting pretty frantic with frequent messages about low battery charge, go somewhere and plug it in immediately. I never trust the GOM of course having used this car for three years. But through a variety of circumstances which I won’t go into here I was trying to make it home on what I had. I did, but like I said not a good idea. I find in cold weather at 75 mph I can go about 180 miles. Definitely not a great road trip car under these circumstances unless you enjoy sitting in Walmart parking lots for much of the day.

I would have lowered my speed and turned off the heater much sooner(did it around 20 miles left) but I was busy talking with my wife who I hadn’t seen for a while and wasn’t paying attention.

Had this experience with my Challenger . Nice country road trip until I got lost on the backroads . White knuckled my way back to civilization and when I finally got to the one and only gas station in that God forsaken county I had 1 mile left and my blood pressure was at stroke levels .

Yeah my wife was really stressed out. I was picturing getting loaded onto a tow truck bed for a 5 mile drop off at the house. Or stopping at a random house and asking to plug in for an hour with my portable 110. “Do you have any single-malt?”

iI was talking with a Ford truck EV guy while charging earlier and he carries a gas generator with 50 amp capacity for these very situations. The huge truck gets 325 miles btw.

We had options by god!
