I ordered the Premium RWD. It came in yesterday, right when the Ford site said it would. I picked it up today and drove around for a few hours and then struggled with the electronics this evening. Super happy I got this car. It’s awesome, and the things that aren’t awesome can be fixed with OTA updates and some improvements to the manuals. (And possibly Google and un-break their software).

The Good

The car drives really well. It’s a big heavy sports car. If you want a Lotus, you’re going to be disappointed. I found the steering and shocks to be fine (both things that many of the videos complained about). Acceleration is nice and you get that instant EV acceleration.

The drive assist features (adaptive cruise control and lane keeping) work really well.

The car is plenty fast when you need it, but also really comfortable to cruise around in.

It’s incredibly quiet. You can see places where there’s extra sound insulation that other cars lack.

Visibility is good. Even though the rear window is small-ish, you still can see a lot.

The cameras and proximity sensors are helpful.

Infinite blue is a gorgeous color.

The Bad

There’s a weird and audible buzzing noise from behind the steering wheel when the car is on but not driving.

Android Auto doesn’t work at all. This may be a Google issue as plugging the phone in via USB causes the phone to reboot. Same issue some F-150 owners are seeing. Playing music over Bluetooth also doesn't work (perhaps related to the Auto issue).

My phone isn’t supported for Phone-as-a-Key.

I can’t find the list of phones that are supported for phone-as-a-key anywhere.

The Sync4A menu is generally sucky. There’s no back button or sense of bread crumbs as you navigate through it. Once I know where everything is, it may be ok, but the learning curve is kinda steep. Yes the interface is reasonably fast, but it doesn’t get you where you need to go.

The in-car owners manual doesn’t link to places inside sync. Don’t tell me “Click Sources” and not have a hyperlink that takes me right to Sources. (Although with the lack of breadcrumbs, there’s no way I would ever be able to get here again).

I found the icons both in the car and in the touchscreen to be unintuitive. Maybe because this is my first American car, but there weren’t many icons I could identify in my first guess.

No instructions on how to remove the Frunk divider. The frunk feels smaller than it should be, and the divider makes the space almost useless.

I can’t activate the Fordpass Charging “connected service.” Earlier today it was failing when trying to display the credit card section, and now it’s just saying there are no connected services available.

This will take some time to fix, but it should be a priority. There could be a thousand or more hyperlinks to add into the manual that will take you right to the item you just researched.

Other than the buzzing noise, the hardware seems solid. Unfortunately not the first Android Auto issues post nor first phone reboot post. :(

Disappointed about PAAK and FordPass Charging payment not working, those are big selling points. Again just software though, so hopefully an OTA can come fast.

All the more opportunity for Ford to flex their OTA muscles and show us what kind of support they can deliver remotely.

But yes, not really things that should be happening in the first place in a perfect world. Some quirks are expected for early adopters, as long as they get fixed quick.

No instructions on how to remove the Frunk divider. The frunk feels smaller than it should be, and the divider makes the space almost useless.
Frunk divider removal should be very easy. It is held in by several plastic retaining pins, which are lovingly known as "dammits" because of their tendency to get lost or broken when removed and reinstalled multiple times. The top of the retainer pin has a flat surface with a little gap under it on one side for a flathead screwdriver. Slip a flathead into the slot and rotate to pop the top cap out. It won't go far, only a few mm. Once it is popped, then you can remove the whole retainer pin by hand by pulling out on the outer ring.

Reinstallation is just pushing the retainer pin back in place until the outer ring is flush with the surface you are attaching, and then pushing the cap back into place by hand.

The trick with the little buggers is that they are not strong - if at any time you feel like you are having to force something, stop, wiggle the plastic around, and try again. If you do break one, say "dammit", and don't worry, they are extremely cheap.

Where in MD do you live? Who was your dealer? I’m in Silver Spring buying through Koons.

What car are you coming out of?
2011 Nissan Altima. Wife has an Audi A3 and even that has a more logical menu structure.
What android phone were you trying to connect?
OnePlus 6T. It's not the newest phone but it's not THAT old.

In MoCo...I got mine through Sheehy. They were very excited to do their first delivery and the process with them was reasonably smooth.

@phidauex: Thanks for the frunk removal instructions. Still feel like this should be part of the manual, though.

Good to know the wheels are screwed on and the bumpers don't fall off. Sad to hear about the software issues. Definitely something going on there, this is the second or third report of Android Auto rebooting phones.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Is there any in-system support? I mean besides the manuals. Is there like a "click to chat" (I'm thinking something like GM's OnStar

Hi @lotharik , can you please add your telemetry data to this thread ... Trying to get the information from these reports in a single thread so we can track the issue

That‘s intentional. All electronic methods for opening the frunk are currently disabled, which includes the emergency escape button inside. Since there’s no functional escape method, Ford added the divider to prevent anyone from fitting inside. As far as they (or their lawyers) are concerned, you shouldn’t remove the divider, so they’re not going to give you instructions for it. But they know people will, so they didn’t make it difficult.
