Overall
I ordered the Premium RWD. It came in yesterday, right when the Ford site said it would. I picked it up today and drove around for a few hours and then struggled with the electronics this evening. Super happy I got this car. It’s awesome, and the things that aren’t awesome can be fixed with OTA updates and some improvements to the manuals. (And possibly Google and un-break their software).
The Good
The car drives really well. It’s a big heavy sports car. If you want a Lotus, you’re going to be disappointed. I found the steering and shocks to be fine (both things that many of the videos complained about). Acceleration is nice and you get that instant EV acceleration.
The drive assist features (adaptive cruise control and lane keeping) work really well.
The car is plenty fast when you need it, but also really comfortable to cruise around in.
It’s incredibly quiet. You can see places where there’s extra sound insulation that other cars lack.
Visibility is good. Even though the rear window is small-ish, you still can see a lot.
The cameras and proximity sensors are helpful.
Infinite blue is a gorgeous color.
The Bad
There’s a weird and audible buzzing noise from behind the steering wheel when the car is on but not driving.
Android Auto doesn’t work at all. This may be a Google issue as plugging the phone in via USB causes the phone to reboot. Same issue some F-150 owners are seeing. Playing music over Bluetooth also doesn't work (perhaps related to the Auto issue).
My phone isn’t supported for Phone-as-a-Key.
I can’t find the list of phones that are supported for phone-as-a-key anywhere.
The Sync4A menu is generally sucky. There’s no back button or sense of bread crumbs as you navigate through it. Once I know where everything is, it may be ok, but the learning curve is kinda steep. Yes the interface is reasonably fast, but it doesn’t get you where you need to go.
The in-car owners manual doesn’t link to places inside sync. Don’t tell me “Click Sources” and not have a hyperlink that takes me right to Sources. (Although with the lack of breadcrumbs, there’s no way I would ever be able to get here again).
I found the icons both in the car and in the touchscreen to be unintuitive. Maybe because this is my first American car, but there weren’t many icons I could identify in my first guess.
No instructions on how to remove the Frunk divider. The frunk feels smaller than it should be, and the divider makes the space almost useless.
I can’t activate the Fordpass Charging “connected service.” Earlier today it was failing when trying to display the credit card section, and now it’s just saying there are no connected services available.
