We've got some time before winter rolls back around, but I decided to get my winter wheel setup ready now instead of waiting until there's a shortage when everybody's doing it. I went with 19x8 with a 40mm offset. That makes the surface of the wheel stick out about 19mm more than the OEM wheels, which I was concerned may be too much. But the OEM wheels are set so far into the wheel well, that it's really not an issue at all. With the extra 19mm of poke, the face of the wheel is just about flush with the wheel well lip.

The wheels are Petrol P5A 19x8 5x108 +40. The irony of using Petrol wheels on an EV is not lost on me. They have an odd center bore size of 72.1, so centering rings don't seem to be easy to find. There are a couple of websites in the UK that have the right size rings, so I guess I'll just order from one of them. Now that the test fit is done, I'll be wrapping them in Hakkapeliitta R3 tires.

I really like those wheels. I don't think they will protrude to much. what size tires are you going to use so they don't rub in wheel wells?

Also where did you purchase. After the OEM tires wear out I might pick up a set of those for larger tires myself.

I'm going to stick with the OEM size of 225/55R19. No point in going wider for winter use. But when the OEM tires wear out, I may put some wider rubber on these wheels and start using them for summer. I ordered the wheels from Amazon, but it looks like they're out of stock at the moment.

I wonder if it is possible to recalibrate cars computer for different size tires so that all the instruments are still reading correctly.

It‘s possible, but likely not very easy. Your best bet is to try to keep the outside circumference about the same by decreasing the sidewall size as you increase the wheel size.

I am very curious how much range impact you observe once you have been driving with them for a while. Probably because the install will be timed for cold weather, the cold weather will help mask the change. Unfortunately. In theory, the aftermarket wheels are less aerodynamic and since they stick out further, will increase air resistance at higher speeds. Therefore less range, especially on the highway. In theory.

I‘m sure there will be an impact on range, but like you said, it will be colder when I switch to them, so it will likely be hard to tell. The winter tires may impact range also. But since this is a commuter car, and my commute is 10 miles, I don’t really care about range.

I feel for those of you that have to change tires in the winter. Must be a hassle. How do you handle the tire pressure sensors? Can you buy another set of sensors or do you have to swap over your existing set to the winter wheels every season?

It‘s not all that difficult as long as you have the right tools.

For the TPMS sensors, I just put universal Autel sensors in the winter wheels and clone them to the original sensor IDs. The car doesn’t even know they were swapped.

Wheels look great. Where are you placing the jack. Are you using a block and jacking between the triangles over the bolts or are you placing the jack on the large blk rail or what looks like a frame connector behind the bolts. The manual says jack between triangles and that's all.

I‘m using a solid rubber jack block between the jack and the car and putting it between the arrows on the flat spot between the rail and the bolts.

0k, that's what I did but used a wood block. It just didn't look quite right. Couldn't believe how high you have to jack it to get the back tire off the ground. But the front only took maybe 3 pumps. I'm panting the calipers today. Had the grill wrapped last wk in gloss blk on star WHT. Thanks getting back to me.

Looks good I'm doing the same but I want 18s for two reasons. 1 more sidewall. 2 18s are more efficient
