The build quality is very good.

Seems like some have some bad parts (sound familiar?) But overall build quality is superior to juicebox.

I'm not an engineer. But if one brand is failing, and another brand is not failing, saying "overall build quality is superior" seems not a valid statement.

People don't give a rat's behind about "build quality". They want a reliable charger that works every time. If it fails, it's not as reliable as one that doesn't fail. Simple.

Have you done a survey? Or is it just what you see on the forum? Tons of companies got bad parts during supply chain issues. Like we know Ford did.

By that logic no one should be buying a mach-e.

Grizzl-E is one of the top tier charger companies, on par with ChargePoint and Juice Box. I have 10k E-Miles on my Grizzl-E and never a fault.

Wait, I'm supposed to base my forum comments on facts? Really? OMG, I have thousands of posts to edit... ? ;)

Survey on a forum would not be facts.

All I'm saying is that I haven't seen, across forums and social media, a single post about a JuiceBox charger failing. On this forum I've seen numerous posts about less expensive chargers failing, including the Grizzl-E.

I've been considering the Grizzl-E Smart. I haven't pulled the trigger yet (waiting on Black Friday). Honestly, I like the design of it. It is also one of the highest-rated chargers by the State of Charge guy on Youtube who reviews a lot of these units.

State Of Charge - YouTube

The Juicebox is more expensive and I am not fond of the design. They also fail, but it appears that (from this form only) they fail less than the Grizzl-E chargers with the Mach-E. The other charger I am considering is the Emperia charger, but they are newer to the game and dont have the history.
GrizzlE is expediting a 3rd charger, fingers crossed. I will give them an A plus for customer service, I just hope I don’t have to talk with them again.

My Grizzl-E dumb charger has been going for 14 months now, first with my used Leaf, then my MME, and now with the wifes 23' Leaf which gets charged nitely due to a long commute and my MME twice weekly. Over 30K miles have been charged with this unit and its like the energizer bunny! keeps on going and going.
Now mind you I never need to charge fast so mine is set to 32 amps versus the max 40 its capable of.
I chose it for the longer heavy duty temperature resistant cable, and I like the utilitarian simple design.
No worries about it going down, if it does we have three spare units that can pitch in if needed, the original and new leaf chargers as well as the stock MME unit.
With the great customer support, I'm sure I could get a replacement if needed in short time.

It appears the dumb ones are having fewer issues. I may just pull the trigger in the next couple of weeks. I doubt black Friday will have any savings as these things are in high demand currently.

I use the cord that came with the Mach e and have had no issues. I wondered why people buy expensive charger attachments rather than just using the 240V plug-What is the advantage?
For one the Ford EVSE yellows out above 90 in the garage which in AZ is half the year. 8 hr charge turns into 16

March 2021 Grizzl-e extreme outside install and perfect to date. Only time I get red is a power outage or brown out and some of the times it does not reset right. Poor power is a problem with all electronics. Guess that is why I run avr's and/or power conditioners of my high end stuff. Have not looked into that for this high end car yet but it has charged here to date with no issues. Something may have changed? Don't know why no chip shortage or anything right?

I started having the same issue, red light blinks 10 times - over current fault. Checked my breaker and wiring, everything was good on my end. I put in a support request explaining the issue and they sent out a replacement right away that I received within a week, popped the faulty one in the box and sent it back - all good.
I have two Grizzl-E chargers, 1 at my house and 1 at the country house. My one at the house has worked great since I got the car in March of 2021. The other one after a couple months had the same error as the person I am replying to. Similar story, they quickly sent out a replacement with very little questions asked and I sent mine back. It takes all of 2 minutes to swap it so overall not actually a huge issue. Customer support has been top notch. Obviously it would be better if it had not failed.

Back In May, I was ready to buy a Grizzle-E. I emailed them to ask if they would be making a 48 Amp version. This is the response I got (from the CEO) that made me buy a ChargePoint instead:

We are currently not planning to make 48 Amps units, here are the reasons:
  1. Limitations - only can be hardwired for 48 amps, we will better make 80 Amps unit, as cost of components for either 48 amps or 80 amps are comparable and much more that for 40 amps.
  2. Price – 48 Amps unit will be much more expensive due to harder regulations and less components available
  3. No point – the difference between 40 amps charging and 48 amps charging is only about 15 minutes on an average car
  4. 48 Amps is hoax created by ChargePoint to be a little bit more powerful than JuiceBox. Nothing else.
My ChargePoint has provided me with 5 months of trouble-free, maxed-out charging at the “hoax” 48 Amp rate. What a weird response!

I sorta agree with points 1-3 without the hoax part. I think it's good that 50 Amp (40 Amp max charge rate due to 20% rule) units can still be mobile so you can bring it on trips, etc easily.

There have been more grizzl issues posted lately, maybe it's a bad recent batch.
