Hi!

Okay, 3 weeks after having my HVJB replaced (completely unrelated), I go out to the car to go to work (110 mile round trip). Car has less than 8k miles on it. Tire pressure monitor system shows front driver tire at 22 PSI. That’s not good…so I drive up one exit, inflate tire at local gas station to 39 psi.

Start driving the rest of the way to work, lose about 10 psi in 48 miles. Check in for work, use my tire inflator kit with sealant, drive for 4 miles. Come back to car for lunch, lost 4 psi, fill up with inflator, go to AmericasTires. They dunk tire, can’t find leak. Vacuum out the sealant, inflate, dunk, can’t find leak. Replace valve stem. I ask why they don’t sell me a tire, they shrug and send me on my way.

Drive back to work, 15 miles away, lose 4-5 PSI. Had to inflate my tire two times coming home from work. This car is a lot of headaches. Are these tires warranty covered? 8k miles and a failure that a tire shop can’t diagnose is crazy.

Maybe. And that’s if your dealer really loves you for some reason. I think any tire will give you issues if your lucky.

Dealer doesn’t like me, so that’s a no go I guess.

Pirelli P Zeros are one of the summer tire class leaders along with Michelin Pilots and Continental ExtremeContact Sports. You simply have a bad tire or inept tire repairer. Sucks.

Sorry y’all, I just feel like I’ve had a lot of problems with the car, and just venting a bit, probably misdirected. At least I can say that I don’t think the P Zeros are what I’m going to put on when I replace all 4. Changed the title of the thread.

Get a spray bottle of soapy water and saturate the whole tire including the sides and bead. If you can’t find it, back up two feet and repeat.

It's pretty amazing that the tire store could not find it. They have a tank to hold it under water.

First off, I am sorry for the frustration. I know how frustrating it can be for a tire leak that is not readily apparent reason.

Second, unless you purchased some kind of wheel/tire warranty for road hazard, tire leaks are not going to be covered by Ford. You said you put sealant in the tire, which I understand the reason why, but when you do that you also run the risk of destroying your TPMS sensor that is located inside the rim below the valve stem. You said the tire shop replaced the valve stem, which means they needed to move the TPMS sensor, which could also cause problems if not reinstalled or replaced properly.

I think that’s the thing that frustrated me about this. Americas Tires had the tank, and they couldn’t find out what was wrong. The tires are good as far as summer tires go, I didn’t mean to imply that the P Zeros don’t do what they are supposed to do. I went to the tire shop I trust today, they found a slice in the sidewall. 2 new P Zeros are going to set me back 822 bucks. They gave me a loaner and have the tires coming in tomorrow.

Here's my guess. The slice was perfectly sealed when the tire was inflated, even over-inflated if they did that at the tire store. Then, you put a 5,000 pound car on it, and the slice opened slightly.

Lesson for the future - Discount / America's Tire sell tire certificates, around $45. For $180 for four, you'd be paying nothing. Also, $822 is outrageous for 2 tires.
