Isn’t that how everyone drives? I go full pedal - no pedal. My passengers love it and regularly see their lunch a second time. How? I mean, in what regular situation do you like to floor the accelerator for five seconds or more?
Full pedal up to 120mph? 150mph?Isn’t that how everyone drives? I go full pedal - no pedal. My passengers love it and regularly see their lunch a second time.
For sure. After the first 5 seconds, there isn’t much more room at the top for more “go” on any legal roads. 80 is a fast climb from a dead stop.Full pedal up to 120mph? 150mph?
By five seconds, I don't want any more full pedal.

My First Edition certainly feels like it has enough power to pass anything on the road that I have any business attempting to pass…@Ford Motor Company needs to say whether or not they plan to fix it. Some people are fine it and that’s cool but others are trying to decide what to do. I don’t plan to go to a track with a MME GT but I want to know if i’m going 75 mph on a highway that I can hit the accelerator that I can feel enough power to pass cars I want to pass. The idea that a non performance car can accelerate faster on the highway makes it hard to justify the $70k for a GTPE . Not saying Ford has to fix it but people are trying to decide on whether to buy or even whether to keep a MME GT and deserve to know if Ford plans to do anything about fixing it…
At least two gray jail bars just live on my dashboard at all times. It is the way. This question has been answered and answered and I’ll answer it again.
“5 seconds” is what we call the “problem,” but the problem is rarely 5 seconds.
The “problem” is ford pulling power (as seen in gray bars).
The ONLY time you get 5 seconds before this happens is near full charge, great weather and when flooring it from a stop.
The gray bars are the problem. And they show up in daily driving waaaaaaay too often:
If it’s cold
If you’re below 70% charge
If you’re cruising on the highway
If you’re driving somewhat aggressively
Ford is way too aggressive at pulling power on the car. And even though we call it “5 seconds,” it isn’t just 5 seconds that’s the problem.
This week I had gray bars randomly. (Only 2, but still). Was driving in the city, 30 mph avg speed. 70% charge. 70 degree weather, and I only drove 3 miles.
I remember looking at the bar and was annoyed and confused as to why in that situation they showed up.
Probably depends on how much you DC charge. They are always there. Just taunting you. Letting you know you can't have full power no matter what! This is the way.
I love the car, but not completely sure I would purchase it again. I think the 400V charging system will go the way of the dinosaur shortly. 800V can charge basically twice as fast, so I don't know if this car with its limitations will be around in the current form for en extended period.

On paper the GT should be able to match the Y Performance and the GTPE should be able to beat it in the 1/4 mile. Not saying that at all. Just saying that you’re complaining it isn’t faster than the fastest cars on the road.
Tesla has the fastest production cars on the planet (plaid). There can only be one number one.
The way you complained it wasn’t “faster than a Tesla” made it sound like that’s a low bar to attain. Teslas are stupid fast.
From a dead stop at the metered on ramp I use every night on the way home from work. It happens regularly at around 80 - 85 mph, which is what the moving traffic is already doing. In fact some times it happens at 65 - 70 mph depending on how many gray bars I have. Not a deal breaker but annoying in any case. How? I mean, in what regular situation do you like to floor the accelerator for five seconds or more?
On paper the Y performance should still be faster. Weighs 500 lbs less and we only have a 30 hp advantage. On paper the GT should be able to match the Y Performance and the GTPE should be able to beat it in the 1/4 mile.
The reality is the GT and GTPE both get beat by the Y Long Range and beat even worse by the Y Performance.
This has nothing to do with Plaid.
