HAL - Solar Powered Mach-E

Well, not completely, but more than 50% of the electricity from my panels charged up my Mach-E. The panels produced 45 kWh yesterday.

I'm sure that only a small minority recognize the symbol. I'm a 2001: A Space Odyssey nut. It is from the EVA Pod.

I also added the HAL 9000 option.

When I asked HAL to open the front trunk [frunk], he responded "Sorry Charlee, I'm afraid I can't do that". So, as a workaround, I installed another option to open it.

I also added a $4 convex to the side mirror, available at most auto parts stores.

And $14 ambient lighting for the rear seats, which plugs into the 12v source in the center console.

After waiting 7 months, I took delivery of HAL last Tuesday. It has exceeded all my expectations.

I caught it. One of my favorite movies and one of the first times I went to an indoor theater.

I'd be afraid a Karen would see the bolts tag and call the cops.

I got the LED lights about three weeks ago at Costco, but I don't see them listed on their website. A similar set is listed on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/353253556287
Mine only has two strips and doesn't have Music Sync. They can be turned on and off with the red button on the 12v plug.

I mounted the strips to the bottom metal frame of the seats. The adhesive tape the strips come with in inadequate and I would recommend getting 3M's Heavy Duty tape and just place a strip over the existing tape.

All the excess cord length can be stuffed into the center console. The sliding cover can still be almost completely closed.

Love the HAL theme! (my favorite random trivia from 2001: A Space Odyssey is that HAL was named by taking each letter of IBM and "subtracting" one)
