That is a real question. I hate reaching into anything that will snap a nail off. My manicures are not free.
From what I’ve heard the actuators are quite strong. We’ll be grabbing the door edge in snow/freezing rain. I definitely expect the trough to fill with ice in a wintry mix. It’s better than having flush handles freeze shut!
You don’t have to use the handles at all. When you push the button the actuator pops the door out several inches. If you don’t want to use the handle, just grab the door edge. That’s the way you open the back doors-no handles back there.
As far that i've seen yesterday it is a dirt catcher. mostly dust and stains from rain.
On the car we had on display here the open hook of the first picture was ok, the 2nd picture handle looks very uncomfortable...

I already have to grab the door edge for one of my current vehicles so this will be second nature for me.
Do you think it would be an easy mod to just remove the handle without leaving a trace ? I would prefer to just grab door edge all the time and get rid of the ugly handle.
FE owners, please write up some good procedures to remove the handles for the rest of us to follow (only the successful ones)
I'm guessing there's screw heads on the inside of the door holding it on.
I'd assume it's on there using a bolt or screw or something, so not sure if it's easy to remove. I think I'll be able to ignore the handle since it's small and essentially blends in with the door frame if you don't look to closely ?
Removing it will probably leave holes to fill and repaint.
