Serious question - what’s the big deal with the frunk? It’s a novelty to me. I honestly don’t use it much. Maybe I need to move to Hawaii?
The frunk is for Chillin'! ??

Do you believe BEV’s have a minor market share in China?
Do you believe China is a free market? Govt forced adoption does not reflect actual consumer sentiment. In free markets EV adoption is very very low and all OEM’s are slashing their EV product plans due to lack of demand.

You guys are talking past tense, and so I agree that polluting the world has been profitable. But it won't be forever. So, present and future tense? I don't agree that this is "improving the quality of life the world over". But whatever, call me a "green dreamer" or whatever the term was that you used.
Yeah, the people living in poverty and filth in Africa and India are real worried about 1/2 degree of climate change — way more important than food, housing and fossil fuel burning to run an air conditioner. ?

So it’s not a minor market share in the world’s largest market. Got it.

I think the lack of use for the frunk is a carryover habit from ICE days for most. My mid/late 20s nephew uses his MME frunk all the darn time. He's pushing the frunk use average way up. ;)

I use it every week, usually twice or so. sometimes more. I put groceries in it if I have to make multiple shopping stops — a not uncommon occurrence in our now two-horse town (Waimea/Kamuela, depending upon the map you use). If I'm returning from a grocery run in Kona, I fill it with ice and keep the cold stuff cold (50 miles one way). It is the same thing if I'm doing other shopping that requires multiple stops. Out of sight from nefarious creatures.

When I go for an ocean swim I put the wet and sandy stuff in it afterwards. If I could still run I'd toss running gear in there (artificial knee derailed running). If I stop at the mailbox (a bit over a mile away) on the way somewhere else I'll toss the stuff in there. No one needs to know about my questionable Amazon buying habits ...

Logic and reading comprehension clearly aren’t your strengths.

Gonna have to follow Twains advice with you. Good day. ?
I have no problems reading your belief that EVs can’t be viable and you feel China’s market isn’t free enough to consider their dominance in the market there as counting towards their viability.

But while your superior logic seems to view the entire world from an American centric view, mine does not. And a market of a couple billion people quickly transitioning to EV’s will affect the rest of the world’s market. Just like Tesla being the top selling car in the world will.

Doesn’t really matter if you think it was done with a free market or not.

NOTHING has done more to increase prosperity and quality of life the world over, nada. Prove me wrong. We’ll wait.
How do Russia and the Middle East fund endless conflict? Fossil fuels. Lots of prosperity and quality life going on.

Guys, I’m sure whatever Ford decides to do with the Mach E, it’ll be the result of a very thoughtful process on the backend.

Believe it or not, this thread is actually about a guy's mach-e that has been sitting at the dealer for ages with a Christmas tree of warning lights and no apparent help from Ford or the dealer. We've been known to get pretty far afield in most all of the threads in these parts but I think this one takes the cake.

What is the EV help line? The dealer does have a EV F-150 on the lot. They seemed really receptive to working on the car.

Folks, my advice is to collectively ignore (as in, use the forum's Ignore function) that DesignMatters person; it's definitely words coming from a troll. Don't give trolls a voice or a platform to express their idiotic views. It's like saying slavery and the atom bomb has caused prosperity for large parts of the world, so why don't we keep that going? Lots of purposeful ignorance and logical fallacies in this person's other posts, I'm way too lazy to engage in the rest.

Might want to read the OP’s full post…

I have had my Mach-e for 3 1/2 years but I don't want to own an "orphan" car. I'm not in love with Teslas but I think they might be the only manufacturer that can be trusted to not walk away from the category.

I did. His complaint is due to the lack of help in getting his due resolved. The rest of the posts are complete BS, including my own.

I wouldn't call it "giving up", I'd call it "trying and failing". They've certainly been trying with EVs. Arguably too hard with the expansion plans 3 years ago. But costs have run out of control, to the point that they need to find a way to purge 10's of $thousands of cost out of every EV to make them a viable product.

Something had to give, because you can't keep going on losing $billions on a product line in perpetuity with no savior on the horizon. Their Gen1 EVs are just a money pit now, and Gen2 getting scaled back and pushed further out is a pretty good sign that the economics probably don't look so rosy for that either.

Battery prices leveled off instead of spiraling downward as hoped. Labor costs went way up (they came out losers of the UAW war). Inflation and interest rates went way up. The tax credits screwed them over (while helping Tesla). Ford's EV profitability imploded. They were closer to profitability on EVs 3 years ago than they are today.

It's not for lack of trying, it's simply trying and failing. A lot of the reasons weren't their fault, but it doesn't really matter to the bottom line.
