Headlights still on warning. C'mon Ford.

So foggy ride to work, but bright enough that headlights didn't turn on automatically, so I turn them on manually. Then when I get out the car goes "bong bong bong". It took me a couple seconds to realize what it was. Couldn't Ford display a message rather than a random noise? There's a giant ipad in the middle, right?

A warning noise was great 40 years ago, when we didn't have automatic headlights. Now it's maybe once a year I might turn on headlights manually. My 2001 Olds Aurora had a tiny screen that was a single line of about 20 characters. But it was enough to understand why something was beeping. C'mon Ford.

US spec cars keep lights on when car is powered off if the control dial is in any position other than "Auto". That's what independence won us.

Are you just referring to US spec Mach Es? Because in my previous vehicle (Hyundai Santa Fe), even if lights were in on position--which is where I always left them--they'd turn off when I turned the car off.

Yeah, I guess. Like others stated, I think they go off after a while anyway. But it still bongs at you. The point is they programmed the warning sound without any sort af visual indication.

This is not unique to the Mach E. No car I’ve had over the decades has a visual indicator or voice to tell you your lights are on. Only chimes / bongs / etc.

Correct, US Mach-e's, and likely US spec Ford's. I had Toyotas, VWs, and Subarus going back to early 80's models that all shut off lights when the ignition switch was turned off. There's likely more that do that as well. All of the 'Merican Ford and GMs that I have/had stay on with key off.
