So last October I bought a Ford Escape PHEV. I didn't think I was ready for a full EV. I just hit 9000 miles on it and 7500 of them are all Electric. I had a Level 2 Chargepoint charger installed in my garage, and we have 4 CP chargers at work. Round trip to work is only 26 miles. The Escape was rated at 37 miles Electric but I am constantly getting 45, except for the Winter when it drops to around 28.

Anyways I'm enjoying the Electric driving so much I convinced the wife to take the Escape and I'm going to order a 2023 Mach E. Have already talked to my dealership (bought like 5 Fords from them), they will take my X-Plan too.

Looking to get a Premium Extended Ranger AWD.

Some folks put down Plug-ins, but I think they are a great option...I had a 2013 C max Energi until 2021.....I started to have some 12v battery problems so I sold it, sorry I did.......got a descent price but it was probably worth more to me if I kept it, only a one car family now and sometimes I get a little worrisome if the MME goes down, then what??

I used to put on about 7000+ miles per year and 6000 or so were electric....and in 5 years I had over 7000 regen miles so a free year or so of driving....the c max was a great little car

I know this is a MME forum, but I may be in the market for the Escape PHEV, if the others will allow you, haha, could you list a few things you like and do not like, and if willing the approx price you paid thanks.......

Welcome. I actually bought our MachE first, then bought an Escape PHEV. My EV range in the Escape matches yours. It isn't as exciting as the MachE, but is an extremely practical car. When we upgraded our Select AWD to a GT, we could have kept both and sold the Escape, but the Escape just makes too much sense.

Here's 2 funny pictures. In the first from this winter it looks like it stuck it's head in a bag of cocaine. In the second it's parked next to a Porsche Macan which it's almost indistinguishable from.

One suggestion, you might want to evaluate whether AWD is worth the $2700 cost (or more for the '23 model, after likely price increases) and negative impact to range. The RWD version will save you the $2700 and give you more range. RWD EVs do much better in winter conditions due to the heavy weight and even weight distribution with the batteries laying under the entire floor. Lots of info online regarding RWD EVs (particularly Teslas). On the other hand....the AWD version is quicker off the line if that is important to you :)

I agree. I have an AWD ER Premium and I think I might have been just as happy with a RWD California Route 1 with really good tires. I live in NH and this coming winter will be my first with the MME. My commute is 24 miles round trip so I could take a massive hit to range and still be fine. Nevertheless, I could have saved a fair amount of money on one of the RWD trims.

My RWD CA Rt1 handles just fine in the snow with the stock tires. Picked it up in Feb '21 so its been through 1.5 Michigan winters without any issues.

My 20-year-old daughter is now driving my 2015 C-Max Energi. She loves it! {Jonathan}

I just got my wife to switch from her gas guzzler to a PHEV. She was driving her 3rd Durango, and had no desire whatsoever to go electric at all - except for the fact that she was getting 15 to 17 mpg.

So far she loves her PHEV, and I am hoping it is the "gateway drug" for her to go all electric in a few years also. She's gone 320 miles all-electric, and 40 on gas.

**edit on price, forgot the $3250 incentive they gave me**

So after tax, tags and fees the Escape Titanium PHEV w/ Premium package was $39,803 Then I also got the $6853 tax credit for it, so it was a no brainer. Made it cheaper then the Hybrid and I didn't need AWD. (also used the X-Plan to purchase it).

There really isn't anything I don't dislike about it, except for some dumb performance mode that keeps going on when the battery is fully charged and some odd flickering on the all digital display. Ford claims both are normal.

Love the design (except the stupid grey on black bumper). love the Heads Up Display and the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise control.

Indeed its a very practical car, just went on a 180 mile trip a few weeks ago, 75 of those miles were electric and we got 55 mpg on gas. Also I was loving it when gas prices were starting to get out of control.

Not the OP, but I have a 2021 Escape PHEV with 19k miles on it. Paid $37k, and you get a lot for that....heated seats, steering wheel, Nav, Ford intelligent cruise control (same functionality as MachE before BC was activated), LED headlights/taillights, nice 18" machined wheels.

What I like:

1. Roomy interior. I would say front and rear seats have a little more room, even though the MachE is bigger.

2. Lots of control over when you run on electricity vs. engine.

3. Very efficient. It beats the rated electric range by 20-30% in summer.

4. It will charge in 2.5hrs on 240, or 8ish hours at 120. You could absolutely charge this on 120 only.

5. Giant gauge that lets you see power and regen.

Not so great:

1. A bit gutless.

2. Interior fit and finish isn't as great. There's a few rattles that have mostly worked themselves out.

3. Subjective: Exterior design is bland. Interior is meh.

After 2 years and 60,000 miles with a Honda Clarity PHEV we went to the Mach E in May. Loved the Clarity, but the Mach E has even more to love. I hope you will feel the same.

My 2014 Fusion Energi was my gateway into partial EVs. I love my MME. My other cars can get gallons per mile and I don’t care. LOL. 🤪🐩
