Help - Center console slide door stuck closed

I need help. The sliding door under the armrest in the center console is stuck closed and we can't get it open.
It has my wifes small handbag and other items and we need access quickly.

Any ideas on how to get it open?

I tried one last time and after a quick pull, it just opened like normal.
No idea why it locked up and would not move but not going to close it with anything of value inside.

If someone can explain why we had the issue I would be happy to know as it might save someone else.

My guess would be that something inside was blocking the slide and keeping it from opening. Like a utensil in a drawer popping up and keeping the drawer from opening.

Yup. Had another user that had a similar issue months ago. Same thing, finally got it open, and figured out what it was.

OP - look at the way the top opens, where it goes into, and think of how things would have potentially blocked it from retracting for the future.

I examined this AM and it is possible something blocked it.
My best guess all the pulling and pushing dislodged whatever was in the way enough that it opened.

Warning to others - Small purses/bags often have straps and be caught in the tracks that the top uses!

A late follow up to this; I had the same problem and mentioned it to the dealer when I took the car in for the 20K mile service. They fixed it for me at no charge. Thank you Ford!

Mine is too. Tried the rubber mallet, jiggling it, nothing works.

Yeah you shouldn't put a purse or handbag in there because it could get caught in the track.

if only it was my purse! LOL. I only keep it about 1/2 full, so I can't figure it out. Hopefully Ford Support will reply.

Mine is stuck too. what should I do?

I worked on mine for about an hour, moving the door back and forth and shaking to dislodge what was blocking it. I did not have to go to the dealer to fix it. In my case, it was a small purse strap.
I would set up a dealer service call to see if they can remove whatever is blocking your slider.

Mine is stuck now, my car is a 2025. I had another owner say that they were able to pop off the back cover from the backseat and access the console from the back. But I can’t tell easily how to pop that back cover off. I think something I put in there, a pen is angled up, at the the cover and not allowing me to open it.
