When I used YouTube in my car when charging, the performance for the UI is gawdawful. Super laggy, just a really really bad Experience.
I'm using the ford streaming (4G) and even when I use my phone (5G) The behavior is the same.

Anyone have any tricks?

I found the YouTube played fine once I got there but it took forever to reach YouTube.

You're probably just on a busy cell tower. The UI is a little slow on WiFi but not horrendous IMO.

Seems to be working/playing fine to me. Like others said, could be a connection speed issue.

quick question about the "ford streaming" - do i have to pay the $10 a month for it if i already pay the $20 a month for the in-car wifi? Wouldn't the youtube app just use the cars wifi to power it?

I ask because i very briefly couldn't get youtube to work because it said i needed the ford streaming subscription or I could connect to wifi. When i went to connect to wifi my cars wifi wasn't showing up. I gave up and moved on but this is on my to do list to figure this out.

Jim Farley gotta be huffing paint if he thinks I'm paying $10 for this.
you can use your phone's hotspot. I think $10 for unlimited video data and all the Alexa extras is pretty decent. I actually think they'll probably start charging more for it once they add more services.

I would pay 20 a month for Netflix, HBOmax, Alexa, etc. I def wouldn't pay 10 for a buggy and slow youtube app.

Thanks for letting me know about using my phone's hotspot. I will be doing that moving forward.

I am not one of those people that would NEVER pay for this. Just the product as it stands doesn't make sense to me. It's obvious they are going to build it out and it will eventually be worth while. I'll pay for it then.

The apps they have are so damn odd. Who the hell wants or asked for the Today Show???!!!
There's a certain demographic they may be aiming for, also they already had a channel that just streams all day and that's what is on the car now. I think they wanted to test it out with that.

I assume it's because they started with services that allow web streaming without security tokens. They'll need to work directly with the providers to add things like Netflix, Disney+, HBOmax, etc. I have no doubt that it's planned, but we know how quickly this stuff tends to move with Ford.

Wait, you don't get Youtube streaming with the $20/month wifi option? I don't understand this logic. Seems like you should.
Agreed. But it only matters what Ford thinks.
