How is the MME not selling better? From looking at the numbers it seems like it's doing Ok but not great. I think it's a beautiful looking car - every single other EV looks boxy (Hyundai , Kia) or ugly (looking at you Tesla). And it's hellafun to drive. I just don't get it!

I assume you are new. For a long while there was no federal incentive for the MME and Ford offered barely any discounts or rebates so the Mach-E became a running joke for the slowest selling vehicle for a year until Ford woke up and started cutting prices and throwing incentives at it and the MMe finally started selling. The current laughing stock of the industry is probably the Dodge Hornet or Fiat 500e (which I just test drove yesterday at an auto show).

I’ve said it many times… EVs are $5-10K overpriced and folks love their new car incentives which basically crushes used prices. I test drove an Atlas at the same auto show and it was $43K and had more features than the $53K ID.4. It had a HUD, ventilated seats, premium audio and was very smooth for a 4 cylinder turbo. Why in the world would anybody buy an ID.4 that has none of that… for $10K more… and has more QC problems.

To tell you the truth, the only place I’ve seen the hornet, was they were giving it away on the price is right and I didn’t know what type of vehicle that was when I was looking at it for the first time on there. I didn’t know if it was gas electric And I think I saw one commercial after that. I think the general might argue with you, about the Kia EV nine looks. It’s expensive but it’s got a lot of options too I guess?

Because it is overpriced in an EV market that has become saturated. And because you can buy a used low-mile Mach E for 50% off or more. Frankly, I wonder why new Mach Es are selling as well as they are.

Where do you see 50% off? A quick search shows 2022s being at least listed for not 50% off

I guess the Mach-e has been the best selling EV of the new players for a couple years now. So you want more?

When they were selling premiums for 65k I understand them not selling the fast.

45k with 0% interest for 6 years…I understand why it’s selling faster now.

Was not considering it until it went on sale for the same price as a Ford Edge. Fear about nmc battery fires and range in cold weather. Pretty happy with lfp and range so far. Hard top is a plus when putting a kayak on the roof. But the kayak really hammers my range.

I think there was a great big thread started by a Ford sales guy. There are a variety of reasons given from poor dealership experiences, mediocre UI implementation, Ford software support (BC updates), HVJB issues, better alternatives etc. I think the Mach E was awesome when it came out to do battle against Model Y. Now competition is hot, I think the Mach E could stand for a good refresh to remain relevant. Or drop significant price to maintain interests.

I read somewhere that the recently introduced Honda Prologue is close to toppling the Mach E for 4th highest selling EV. Funny as that Honda EV is a reskinned Equinox EV.

Kia is offering $14.8K in lease rebates on 24 month leases for the EV9. That's why barely used ones are $20K off MSRP. You can buyout the lease any time. Hyundai offers the same fat rebates on the Ioniq 5 Limited.

Ford barely discounted in 2023 and so the MME sat.... unsold...for most of the year

Honda lease deals are very aggressive and Honda owners are loyal to the brand. Ford had terrible lease deals for a year plus... probably 2+ unlike competitors.

I don't think either of the two new GM EVs, or the Honda rebadge version, are visually objectionable. But I do think the Mach-E is visually more impressive.
But even that isn't why I would still choose the GT/GTPE over them. I'm now spoiled by the shear performance and composure of the GTPE. I wouldn't be willing to settle for less in that arena.

Edit:

Kia, on the other hand, absolutely can get me interested in the 5N, but it isn't exactly an inexpensive option. And I would still have to pretend I don't have reservations about the brands products.
