Taking a divergence but related to this topic.....

Later this year we'll be relocating to the Vistancia community in the far north part of Peoria. At some point I'll need to transfer plates/registration to AZ. Where is the best place to do that?

While I was visiting there last week, I did a search for the MVD and found the servicearizona.com site, but also noticed Arizona Auto License Services and similar named locations. Can the AZ locals chime in with your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Moving from Peoria, Illinois to Peoria, Arizona? No reregistration required.*

Yes, servicearizona.com is the correct place to start. Some of those other sites you're finding are authorized 3rd party helpers... They could work also, but I recommend referring to servicearizona.com as the official guide.

* this is obviously not true. come on now.

The third party places will cost you more. I'm not sure if everything can be handled online. I had to go to an MVD office, but that was in 2008. If you don't have AZ licenses you'll need to go in person you have your photo taken, so you could handle the registration at that time.

If it can be done online, you don't need those 3rd party places. I had to go in when I first moved to AZ, because the car needed to be inspected, but I think it only applies to gasoline cars.
