Can someone point me to the proper place to log complaints/requests so Ford understands how widespread issues are? Most of my issues are related to existing bugs that others have reported and I hope will be fixed. My latest issue is that the passenger heated seat comes on when it isn't occupied. This should be fixed. My wife likes to control the heat herself so she doesn't use the auto feature. I have to turn it off if she is not there, and sometimes forget.

I considered the dealership where I took delivery but they don't seem very informed and I am not confident they will relay the information to corporate. What do others do?

Beyond posting it here, you could put @Ford Motor Company in the info, and the social media rep will at least read it.

Ford does monitor social media, but in short they're not looking for lists from people.

I note the same issue as you - but it's not a big deal. I wouldn't want to pay anything more for the heated seat to turn off when my wife isn't there - although I'd like to have it warm up with a remote start if she forgot to put it on Auto.

I recommend forcing the dealer to report issues. Two reasons. First, you are their customer, they received a commission on the sale, and they should respect a relationship with you. I ordered my MME from a different dealer because my usual did not express interest so they lost my business. Second, their future selling EVs can be at stake if they are not willing to engage and learn about EV issues. You are not responsible to help them, but the more they communicate with Ford the better they will become and be able to help you in the future.

Thank you for the feedback. It isn't a big deal by itself. It is one of several issues that add up to a less than perfect experience. If I owned a business I would want to know how widespread my customer complaints were.

When it came time to pick it up we went around and around about the price. They finally gave me the price that I was quoted but weren't happy about it and seemed happy when I went away.

Operating as designed, not an issue. You are making a feature request. The heated seat doesn't use much electricity so it wouldn't make a measurable impact on your range if it was left on.

Where do we log feature requests. It is a waste of energy and could be a fire hazard. I have had other cars really overheat the seats when not occupied.

Ok so if both seats are running at full blast constantly (assume it's so cold that the heater can never reach its target temperature) it is about 100W of power. Not accounting for losses you could run the seat heater for more than an entire month straight on full blast on a fully charged battery.

In reality this math doesn't work because the rest of the car uses more energy than the seat heater just idling and honestly the seat heater would reach temperature and start operating on a duty cycle which would reduce energy use.

It also isn't a fire hazard. There is a temperature sensor in the seat that can detect the temperature and adjust as necessary. That's how they do multiple levels of heating too. Even if left on full blast for hours I truly doubt it would catch the seat on fire. Not to mention the material is not highly flammable. The only time I have ever seen seat heaters cause any type of burning is when the wire is broken and a high resistance connection is made. This can cause arcing which can cause a burn in the seat though an actual fire is extremely rare, especially in modern cars like the mach E which are designed to detect this fault and disable the heater immediately.

Note: This is how all ford vehicles have operated the seat heater for around a decade. It also makes it so the seat can pre warm upon remote start - a feature I LOVE.

The seat issue is only an example, and tangentially related to my original request. It appears there is no real method to communicate to Ford on these issues. I guess that is by design also.

Ford reads these forums. This is a great place to complain and make feature requests. Someone reads it and if it's worth them doing anything about they will. Forum members here have helped Ford identify, investigate, and solve multiple issues related to the mach e. Myself included. There are multiple members of this forum who are Ford employees that lurk in the background to help identify these complaints. Not just runt of the mill people either - but people with actual power to make change.

Of course some things have been identified and take a long time to fix, others can't be fixed, and some they plain just don't care about changing because they don't think it is necessary.

Out of curiosity, how is this by design? Every vehicle I've driven with heated seats starts with the heating off by default. I'm not saying that's the way it should always be, but at least maintaining the last climate setting state would seem to make sense. And it's not like the vehicle can't sense if the seat is occupied or not; even if Ford wanted to automate this setting, they should be able to program it to be off if the seat is vacant. As little power draw as the feature may use, it's a waste. EVs are largely about maximizing efficiency, and this isn't it.

I don't use the heated seats here in Hawaii, but it seems like every single time I turn the car on, the air conditioner is active. I often turn it off and just have the fan active (not always with the auto settings active, either), but I have gotten used to tapping the screen shortly after starting the vehicle to turn off the A/C. It sounds like a similar issue as is being reported here, and more like a glitch - like the "save state" of the last climate setting is stuck and not updating.

That being the case, I'd go directly to Ford and complain about the dealer. I also ordered online through Ford, which required assigning a dealer so I selected the dealer. Fortunately my dealer has been honest, respected the price and supported both me and the MME. Easy for me to say, I know. You have to interact with your dealer even if you complain. Can be difficult.

So, to give you a good idea as to how effective these forums are: we’ve been using these forums to make Ford aware of the missing remote frunk release feature on MY 2021 Job 1 vehicles for almost 2 years now. During that time, Ford has invested considerable resources delivering features such as Sketch, NBC Today, and Double Sun to us because these are the critical features we need right now, now frivolous niceties like the ability to open the frunk to load groceries or other packages. ?
Yeah, Ford’s been doing a great job of paying attention to customer feedback around here, so go for it.

They’ve been paying a lot of attention to you. They just don’t like you. You’re lucky they haven’t snuck over to glue your frunk shut.
