I'm going to be meeting up with some friends in mid-April. Normally I'd just fly, but was thinking about renting a Mach-E on Turo and taking a road trip as a good way to mock-up any future road trips when my Mach-E is eventually delivered.

Destination is about 515 miles away (Atlanta to New Orleans) and there seems to be sufficient Electrify America charging stations along the route. Does this seem like a good idea? Any suggestions if I decide to go ahead with it?

Go for it. I drove about 2,800 miles from California to Texas and back with no problems. Plus driving around my cousins who want to ride in the car.

Very doable. Just plan out to the stops. Maybe charge up on the highway right before getting to New Orleans so you aren't looking for a charger downtown and have a full charge to drive around town. Find hotels with chargers if staying on the road to kill 2 birds with one stone.

Well all I would ask is how long is your visit and what is the parking situation? If this is a good time visit staying downtown with no need for a car then why add the hassle? But as an adventure and perhaps adding time to the overall length of trip it may be fun. For myself I have just found visits to cities more enjoyable when I just use public transportation to my hotel and then walk or use public transportation to get around.

Plan would be to leave the Atlanta area early (6-7 AM) on a Friday morning. I would leave Sunday morning sometime before noon. Friend's building has an underground garage. No idea if charger or other outlets are available. Car wouldn't be used upon arrival in New Orleans. It's a 15-20 minute walk to the French Quarter.

I think for a short visit like that I might fly; however, drove there a couple of times when I was in Biloxi. Either way - enjoy!
