I love my car, but it has issues. If I didn't love it, it wouldn't be my car anymore.

Currently my backup camera barely functions. I posted on it here to see if others have had the same problem and have been getting white glove treatment from Ford. They proactively reached out to me, gave me a dedicated contact, got me a rental car, have had the dealer with with the engineering team, and they just told me they are going to reimburse me for one month of car payments.

Ford is paying attention, and posting about issues makes everyone's car better here. I have posted about things I like too, but it's totally reasonable to post issues to discuss together especially when the manufacturer is watching the forum. I don't think they're is any way I get this level of service by calling the 800 number or going straight to the dealer.

I get the fact that as on any car forum, people who are frustrated are more likely to post complaints and problems. This is either to vent or actually seek help or resolution. I don't understand why there is such a lack of people who are actually singing the praises of their new vehicle. We have been the owners of our Platinum ER x4 for 14 months now. We have not had one single problem related to it being a newly designed EV. The only issue we have had (and still do) is a rattle in left rear door and that is just because I have not had the time to take it in to be corrected. Are we merely lucky, or is the majority of the Mach E's produced similar to ours. I have owned at least thirty brand new vehicles in my lifetime and the Mach E has been the best of any of them. Are we in the majority or the minority here I wonder???
It's just that people who are happy with their decision typically get on with their life. The same thing happens in medical/surgical procedure forums. If you want truth, the closest thing is statistics or a careful non-biased survey. You don't hang out in an oncology ward to gauge the general health of the population.

So……. I’ll start with saying I love my car.

But based on the weekly bugs and first year build quirks I have, I honestly don’t believe it when you say:

“ We have not had one single problem related to it being a newly designed EV.”

Really? No problems? You’ve never had any of the things that have happened to me? Short list off the top of my head:

1. headlight switch bug- turns on instead of auto
2. Screen delay/lag. Touch screen doesn’t respond for about a minute after you start the car.
3. Profile switches to guest randomly instead of your profile
4. Memory seats stay in “easy exit” instead of going to position
5. Volume control fault- car wouldn’t respond to volume knob and had this msg appear
6. SiriusXM bug. Screen randomly doesn’t display properly
7. Parking sensor bug- display gets stuck in the parking sensor screen
8. PAAK doesn’t work sometimes
9. Door lock button outside of door takes 3-4x to respond
10. Charger port door doesn’t open or close on first try
11. CarPlay won’t connect randomly
12. Charge fault
13. Recall- thought this affected everyone
14. OTA update failure
15. Speed sign recognition being wrong
16. Bluecruise hunting for the center of the lane.

So really? Not a single problem? Hard to believe since these things seem widespread. But you must be lucky or don’t consider those to be problems.

I think all of these things are because it’s a first year car.
Nope, none of those are issues for me in 14 months. I did have one problem, the poor B&O stereo, that was fixed by a software update. But other than that everything is fine. (Jinx off).

My car has spent 4 weeks at the dealer in the first 12 months I have owned it, getting recalls and software fixes. Prior to the Mach E I had purchased 4 brand new GM cars. Did they have recalls, yes a couple each in 5-10 years of ownership. Only one of them spent the night at the dealer to get fixed, and that was my Bolt that got a battery swap. That only took 3 days and the car is 5 years old.

Ford quality is not very good, but I do really like the car when it works. I still have one more recall and still see software glitches, and no I do not use PAAK, so no complaints about that.
I had a 2009 Edge that sat idle in my driveway for 12 months waiting for an airbag part to show up. They did give me a rental during that 12 months, though. So, it's not just a first year new EV that has issues.

You’re lucky!

It’s rare I go more than a few days without some bug. Yesterday it was the system faults I posted above. Today it got stuck on the parking sensor screen (something else I forgot to add to my list).

I’ve just grown to live with the bugs for now. Luckily none of them keep me from driving the car.

I love mine. I've had it since November. Have there been annoying issues? Sure. Quite a few, but most of them are easily solvable. Off the top of my head, here are a few of the little things I've noticed:
  • "This Trip" is often wrong, as it doesn't clear the miles from the previous trip.
  • Android Auto doesn't connect sometimes. Have to reboot my phone and/or completely turn the car off and back on (worst case).
  • Once or twice, I've gotten in and it doesn't have my profile loaded. Just pressed the 1 on the door to fix that.
  • Lag on the display, sometimes it's non-responsive until I get to the end of my street.
  • I think I got the phantom light switch once this weekend. First time. It was bonging when I opened the door. Nothing selected on the headlight dial, so I just flicked it around and set it back to Auto.
  • "Reverse Brake Assist Not Available" - I've gotten this a few times. It seems to occur mostly if I've pulled into a parking spot, don't turn off the car (for example, dropping someone off, or running into a store while my wife and son wait in the car) and then put it in reverse to back out of the space.
  • "Watch The Road" - I am watching the road! It's sunny out. I'm probably squinting a little (I haven Transition lenses, but they don't work in the car because of the UV protection in the windshield). I wear glasses and there's probably some glare that it can't see through.
  • One time FordPass didn't register a charge. The car charged just fine, but it didn't show up in the charge logs.
  • "12 volt battery fault" - This happened every day for a week. Turned out it was OptiWatt, so I uninstalled it and the problem went away.
  • Kick to open hatch. I can open it every time on the first try, but for some reason it's harder to close with a kick. Am I standing/kicking differently because the hatch is now open? Is it more sensitive when it's open? Who knows?
Yes, this seems like a long list, but most of these issues are minor and/or have only happened a couple of times. If I knew then what I know now, would I still have bought the car? Hell yes! Like I said, I love it!

When I ordered a premium AWD ER red Mustang Mach e, Ford's predicted wait time was 28+ weeks. At this writing, I'm at 29 weeks of waiting without being scheduled to even start building it. Soonest build date is possibly early September with delivery in middle October, ~45 weeks. Since Select and GT models ordered months after my order are being delivered, it appears that Ford has biased their production in favor of those models and reduced the output of CR1 and Premium models, or maybe AWD of those models. It's also possible "my dealer" has no allocation or is demoting my order. Many ugly thoughts about the apparent unfairness of Ford's MME allocation system.

Love this car EVERY time I drive it.

Is it perfect?
Nope.
-It def. raised my total cost of ownership (talking to you, USAA insurance!). But I knew this was coming and am fortunate to be able to take this hit.
-The overall user interface (small AND big screens...mostly the big) has multiple annoyances, IMHO:
lag time in responses and lack of customization options. While these are mostly annoyances: they are fixable, and Ford's apparent lack of interest in feedback on the user interface puzzles me...especially as they nag me to renew overpriced BlueCruise:)

We’ll never know!

However, happy Mach-e owners are out there and here on the forum though it’s the nature of the beast that forums are used for help with difficulties and their solutions, mainly!

I’m 4 years into this car coming up next month and 113,000 miles and dead happy with mine.

Not really any problems as such that have been deal breakers and cleared up under warranty more than any other car.

The stats show it’s been the right buy for me and the full EV experience has been a good one though it has to be said that the UK charge-point infrastructure is probably among the best worldwide from what I’ve read and heard.

I’m happy to take my chances from here without extended warranty which is testament to the car’s reliability and my confidence in it that has built.

Wondering if the OP or those that sing the praises of the MME, still do. That’s poll info that’s hard to generate and compile. But I think I might try.

3.5yrs and 50k miles, 0 issues, still love it. Only reason we would consider anything else is cargo space, 2 kids keep growing, adding a puppy today, but he should fit in the backseat with the kids
