Well, I am driving a brand-spankin' new Mach-E. I did not pass Go waiting endlessly for my order to be fulfilled and went directly to a dealer and bought one on the lot.
Within the span of a couple days last week I (a) got email from a sales rep at the dealer where I had arranged to get my MME order delivered asking if I was interested in buying any of the several they had on the lot currently, (b) got a 3rd email from Ford saying that there were production delays with my order, and (c) searched local inventory and found one exactly as I had configured in my order sitting on a (semi-)nearby lot.
So I took a drive down to the dealer for a chat, and then while I waited for him to be available, wandered around to find the one on the lot that I found in my search of their dealership: the exact configuration I'd ordered except for the exterior color, star white instead of red.
And a chat with the sales guy, turned into a test drive turned into a chat about how I'd already ordered and wasn't in a hurry, but hey, if an opportunity comes along....
Which led to a loan application and "the manager" coming over to do his part.
Which involved (a) me holding my ground successfully on their trade-in offer, originally $19K for my 2021 Bolt to what their own website (which probably uses KBB anyway) said they'd offer, $22K, and (b) me finding a mystery $3+K charge on the offer sheet that turned out to be an extended warranty and successfully getting that removed, despite heavy pressure from "the manager."
And I ended up taking out a loan, which I'll pay for a couple of months until I can sell some company stock and pay off that loan and own my MMM free and clear, like I had intended to from the beginning.
Signed the contract that evening, but convinced them to let me drive my old car home for the night and get it cleaned out and cleaned up while they could detail the MME in the morning, and Sunday morning I drive away in my new MME.
Already I have good news: When I updated my vehicle in my AAA insurance, rates went up only $17 for the year.
Unfortunately, these instructions (https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...upport/how-do-i-cancel-a-vehicle-reservation/) for how to cancel an order are incorrect: When I follow steps 1 through 6, there is no "Cancel Reservation" option for me. So I'm gonna have to find the right # at Ford to call and cancel that way.
I did not have the holes drilled for the front license plate. Despite the fact that I would lose the capability to have my license plate frame on the front, I think I'm going to go order from https://licenseplatewrap.com/ once I am able, which can't happen until I get my registration paperwork from the DMV.
