Is there a way to simplify your life by consolidating to a single phone? Maybe forward your work number to your other phone?
Unfortunately due to work processes on that phone. I can’t move to my personal phone.

Don’t think the question was how to setup Bluetooth but rather can 2 phones be active.
I definitely can use one device for BT phone and one device for BT audio at the same time… but haven’t been able to get both to be active for BT phone at the same time
That was my question! I’m smart enough to know how to set up Bluetooth on a dang phone. Wanted to know could 2 be active at the same time. Primary work during the day, lock car with work phone. Listen to music off personal phone. Answer and text off both. No music on work phone. Basically asking the KIND folks on the forum if it was possible. Snide remarks are not appreciated. I look to you guys for help because most of you have your cars already.

You can set your work phone to go on Do Not Disturb at 5 PM. That will take care of most of the timing needs, I think.

And you *might* be able to have your personal phone plugged in via USB with Bluetooth off (might not be necessary) to manage voice, music, etc. When you leave your car, put your personal phone in a metal mesh bag to disable its PAAK features while you're doing your work.

I'm not certain this will work. I have an Android and my wife has an iPhone.

No, you cannot answer and text off two phones at once via Sync. You can use the work phone during the day, playing music on personal phone, then make the personal phone the main phone at night, both for phone calls and for music.

Because both phones are on Sync, either can be used to unlock or lock car, and as a PaaK.

To be completely clear, Sync allows two phones to be connected over Bluetooth at the same time, but only one can be "phone" and the other "media". This is somewhat unusual in car systems. But this is Bluetooth only, not CarPlay or Android Auto.

I've done this before to have for example my phone as the phone and a friend's as the media source.

You need to go connect manually to the second phone each time.

For the first automatic connection, Sync will go in order, favorites first.

It’s not worth the trouble? Thank you.

Thank you. That answers my question.

One way to fool the system into picking the Secondary phone is to have the other phone OFF when you enter the vehicle. Or the BT turned off. Sync will connect with the secondary phone. Then, turn on or turn bluetooth on for the Primary phone, and get it to connect.

One problem we often have with Sync is when the "wrong" phone is within BT range of the vehicle. Clearly, if person A connects, then person B gets in, the phones don't change. Now, person A gets dropped off at work, and person B starts driving. B's phone doesn't connect even when A's distance is too far away. Sounds not a big issue, but that also means that the E911 feature, i.e. calling when an accident happens and airbags are deployed, theoretically won't work.

Similarly, if I am in my office, which abuts the garage, and my wife gets in the vehicle where my phone is Primary, then my phone will often connect and hers will not. She has to remember to look and see if she needs to switch phones.

If I make her phone primary on that car, same thing happens if I drive. Then you get into the whole FOB vs. Phone discussion. We both get in, both our phones on (no PAAK). My fob in my pocket drives the selection of which profile to use. But, if her phone is Primary, Sync connects her phone to the car and not mine...

At least that's how it worked before all these updates as I recall.

We have my phone as Primary now with both of us retired.

Thank you, too complicated for me.? I will just start taking my personal phone with me in my work bag. Probably bad to leave it in the car anyway.

That sounds like a headache. Will just stick with my personal phone. I just have to break my habit of leaving it in the car.
Thank you, that explanation helped.
