I can tell you now from personal experience,

With this kind of acceleration, 5 seconds is a long time.

How often do you go from 0-80 mph and then still floor it past that? For me it’s the couple times in the life of owning a car I take it to the drag strip.
How often indeed. I rest my case.

If I could have had a GTPE for the price I paid for my Premium ER 2WD plus 5 large, I would have bought one too.
Well of course! But the $5k was comparing GT vs GTPE.

OIC. So, what is the difference between the Gt and GTPE in the speed after 5 seconds?
All the GTPE gets is a slight boost in 0-60 time due to its extra 34lbs of torque once you are up at higher speeds there will be zero difference.

Also the 5 seconds of over boost really is not a constant and Ford needs to add another set of fine print hidden away in the marketing that states you may potential get up to to 5 seconds. Accelerate for 5 second then slam on the anchors and you won't be getting your 5 seconds worth of boost back for a long while, you will also easily get cases even when the power bar is cleared of limits and you will be lucky to get 1 second worth of boost before the limit kicks in.

Gotcha. So beyond the .2 second difference in 0-60 times, for the extra $5K you also get the upgraded suspension and tires plus some other stuff.

Had I been given the choice of a GT PE when I bought my Premium, I would have bought the GT.

Even facing the prospect of explaining the price difference to my wife. Enjoy.

I love when I am gaining on a car in my lane and want to go left into the fast lane to go around, and the car behind me in the fast lane sees what’s happening and steps on it to “close the door” (common California traffic tactic) to cut me off. Before his ICE car can figure out what he wants it to do, I tap the throttle and have gone around him.
Are you saying that you need GT for that, that premium doesn't have enough power to do that?? Well, unless it's a tesla behind you.

No.. Just the opposite. I can and do do that in my Premium. My point is that that is a perfect power and acceleration curve for me.

How does the suspension compare in the premium vs GT. I know the GTPE has the magnetic, but what about the GT…. Is the GT less bouncy?

how about GT tires? Will you need winter tires for cold, wet days?

Looking at the specs, a couple details that I haven't seen mentioned in this thread - the GT rides a little lower and does not include a cargo area cover.

Edit: A few people commented that their GT included the Cargo Area Cover. So, I started an online order process for a GT, saw no option to add the Cargo Area Cover, but at the point of "Place Order" the list of features included the Cargo Area Cover (both for PE and normal GT). So apparently the specs are not accurate!
My select came with a cargo cover, standard.
