Thanks so much for all of this info. I'll think it all over.

The mileage difference was one of my big things. In the summer I regularly drive 120 miles up to Wisconsin. I need to be sure that I can make it up and back without any significant charging time, if needed. Most of the time I stay overnight so I can charge but occasionally I go there and come back in the same day.

If the mileage really isn't that much different then that may change my decision.
If mileage is your thing then go for the Premium with extended battery. Even before I changed my wheels I wasn't finding anything close to what Ford tried to say the Ca. Rt. 1 would get.

That's interesting. Good to hear some real world experience.

the mileage difference is in the 18" wheels on the Ca Rt1 vs 19" wheels on the premium trim so you can optimize that portion later if you decide on the premium. the battery and drivetrains are the same when comparing like-to-like ER/SR and RWD/AWD.

I live in Minneapolis and I am so glad that I went for CR1. I think I wouldn't trade the extra range that I get for any of those extra features in premium trim (specially because the range drops in the winters and those extra few miles can be important for occasional road trips in winters). The fact that you get that extra range for less money sealed the deal for me.

Thanks. Similar weather/temperature here so it's good to know.

Thanks very much. I'm in Chicago suburbs and I have a friend who had a Mustang 25 years ago and was driving around with sandbags in the trunk. I do understand that was with the engine in the front and the Mach-E has a much more balanced weight. But I'd still feel more comfortable with AWD.
I hear you. I am in the Chicago suburbs as well and ordered a premium with AWD.

This is a huge help, thanks. Exactly what I was looking for.
For what it’s worth, I ordered a CA RT 1 and thought I would miss the power lift gate, but there are several threads on here about it opening when it shouldn’t, so now I am glad to not have that feature.

I have a 22 Ca Rte 1. I'm very happy with the car but I do regret not getting the premium. For what you're already spending on the car, the price difference between the two trims is small in comparison. I also intend to switch out the wheels and tires when the stock tires go bald so the range difference is even more marginalized.

Key difference is

Premium has B&O sound system
Signature headlights
Automatic tailgate
Ambient lights
Nicer wheels

CA-RT1
Has few more miles of range and a bit cheaper.

Rumor has it that real life miles test, both AWD ER cars did about the same miles, the lights, sound system are both great, my CA RT1 arrive in two weeks, my Premium arrive in December, I am buying the Premium.

However, if you are ordering now, just get the GT, Premium ER AWD is $4k cheaper than GT.

The CA Route 1 was originally created to have the highest advertised range, which I assume is achieved by originally being RWD, the 18" wheels, possibly more range optimized tires, and slightly lower weight with less features than the premium (manual liftgate, lower power stereo, etc.). However, Ford has made incremental improvements to increase range for all non-GT models making the Route 1 range advantage smaller, especially after adding AWD to the Rt1, which I assume Ford did because most people probably buy AWD.

Glad to help and I will add that I have zero regrets buying the Rt. 1 over a Premium.
nvabill did a great job summarizing the diffèrences. I’ve had both. I upgraded to the Premium. I wanted a better sound system, passenger electric seats, power lift gate, light grey interior, and non-black wheels. I felt the price difference was well worth it. Real world range is very similar as is overall driving/riding experience.

The black wheels, to me, make it look like a lady in a dress wearing Doc Martens. It’s a look and if you want to look like that, okay. I just prefer the lighter look of non-black wheels.

I have a 22 Rt1. I’m very happy with it. Have driven in muddy conditions where others are spinning out even with AWD and my RWD MME did just fine. I personally would have rather Ford kept the RWD RT1 as I don’t need the speed performance of the AWD.
I do not particularly like power liftgate and don’t care much about wheels.
I charged to 100% for a trip the other day. Max OAT was 65 and I see the range of about 320 avg speed 62mph.

Thanks and I will say I wish I had the lighter interior, the black is really hard to keep clean.

I owned both models, although I had the RWD CR1. The Premium's nicer upholstery, sound system, mood lighting, and power liftgate definitely are a bonus. I also preferred the Premiums wheels to the CR1 because of their looks and nicer ride. The main reason I sold the CR1 was I preferred the Premium's AWD and increased power it had. Not sure which I would have sold if the CR1 was AWD. If you want to save money go with the CR1. If the money doesn't matter, I would go with the Premium.
