I hope this isn’t old news at this point, I know @Jimrpa got his frunk button a few weeks ago on his 2021 Job 1, but it appeared in the FordPass for me this morning after setting up PaaK. I have a Job 1 2021 Mach-E SR AWD with a November 2020 build date.

My car had been at the dealership for a couple of weeks because my hands-free BlueCruise wasn’t working. Thanks to the guidance of @Mach-Lee and assistance of the BEV team, I finally got the issue fixed.

When I got the car back yesterday, my PaaK was wiped. When I set it up just now, I noticed the appearance of the frunk button in the FordPass app.

Hopefully this rolls out soon to everyone who is still waiting. I understood from Lee that someone at Ford had to do something server-side to get my BlueCruise working, I wonder if they took the opportunity to also manually do it with my frunk button. Anyway, I tried it once, and I heard the mechanism unlock four times so maybe some additional work is needed ?

Anyway, here is the proof

Ahh must have missed all the other posts on it. I suppose it’s time to give the frunk some love, I found a dead spider and some webs within it…
Modules enabling the remote frunk release were updated by your dealer while the car was there. Once that was done the button will appear on the app in due course. The remote Frunk release for job 1 cars has been available in FDRS for some time, it has yet to be pushed via OTA to any job 1 cars though.

Thanks for the reply/update. Drove home a low mileage Job 1 Premium that was Certified from the Ford Dealership all eight days ago and I do not have this on my Ford Pass. I have to go back to the dealership for an elelctronic brake harness recall later this month and will see if the frunk update can occur.

They will need to update the Body Control Module and the Generic Function Module, then run the routine that activates the frunk button on your center screen. IMPORTANT: if there is a TCU or GWM module update waiting for your car, they should do these first. Once those are done, you will need to wait until an OTA update happens or someone at Ford messes with the back-end server configuration (the OTA will perform this without human intervention, but you need to wait for it to happen) in order for the button to appear in the FordPass app. ??

Your dealer can also download an onscreen "soft" button that is in the same area as the hatch button.

I see the mention of a 2021 "Job 1" quite often. Curious what is a "Job 1" model? Why is it significant? How can you tell if you have one, maybe from the VIN?

A job is like a production run that goes for several months. Each model year typically gets like two. If Ford has to make some minor change during the model year, it is likely to happen after job 1 is complete and with the start of job 2.

The dividing line between job 1 and 2 for 2021s was probably most prominent because job 1s didn't have hands-free BlueCruise from the start (it was enabled in 2022). Another example from this thread is how 2021 job 1s didn't have the frunk button from the get-go, while I believe 2021 job 2s and on did. There were also a few issues with job 1s that were fixed by job 2.

2021 Job1 cars were produced before July 7, 2021. As @ARK said there were missing features in the '21 Job1 cars that were later addressed in Job2. There was no elecrtonic frunk release in the 2021 Job1 cars. Due to that the easiest visual identifier was put in place: The 2021 Job1 cars had a 4-section divider riveted into the frunk. This was put there for safety reasons. The frunk release button did not work because of the lack of electronic release. The divider prevented a person from locking into the frunk someone who was chillin' in the frunk. Personally, I prefer to chill in the frunk so I like the working button. ??‍♂

Yes, it's part of the update process, a separate routine has to be run in FDRS. Since the OP isn't doing this themselves there's no point in adding extraneous details, although that's never stopped me in the past. ;)

The specific changeover date between Job 1 cars and Job 2 cars was July 7, 2021, IIRC. If your car was built before July 7 it's a job 1. As always though, there is a great deal of blurring of that line. The major differences are as @ARK said.
