Does anyone know if you can control the rate of charge with the car OS, using the supplied Ford 240v cable? I know there are wall chargers that will do this (I think?), but wasn't sure if there was a way to program the car to do it.

You cannot tell the car how much to pull, unfortunately.

Nope, there's no way to adjust the charge speed from the car or the app. If you need to do this, you need to use a smart charger with this functionality.

Thanks guys, this was my assumption, thanks for confirming.

Any charger recommendations?

Thanks for this link, this guy has some really helpful videos! I think I will go with the Emporia charger, based on his review.
Emporia is spoken highly of on here, also. That’s what I should have bought instead of the Ford Connected Charge Station.

If you plan on buying a new EV in the next 4 years and it MIGHT have nacs, tesla universal, emporia is a very well price smart charger but is mono plugged, grizzle-e is a very bare bones charger (but that's not a bad thing)

Really all an EVSE HAS to do is make sure stuff is grounded and advertise the correct maximum charge and make sure the plug is plugged in and it just closes some contactors, the car is responsible for drawing the correct amount of power. It's really not that complicated, just know that when shopping.

Why would you need to adjust the charge rate?
My garage currently has a 240V outlet, but it's only a 20A circuit, so I need to be able to dial back to 16A charge rate. This should be an option in the car's OS, but since it's not, I need a EVSE that can do it.

Update:
Received my Emporia smart charger today...set up was very quick & easy, everything went smooth & right on queue. I set it up for a 16A charge, to work with my current 20A 240V garage circuit, and it's working very nicely, with smooth steady power. The car is gaining about 15 miles of range per hour (below 80%), so I'm happy with that. Wife only averages 60-70 miles per day normally. I'm convinced that the slowest charge that functionally works for you is the best course. So, all in, very happy with the Emporia so far. We'll see how it performs over time. ?

If you ever need to precon you may appreciate closer to 32 amps, but nothing wrong with charging as slow as practical.

Charging L2 at home you'll get its full speed up to 95% or so before it slows down. Even at 48A the last few percent takes about an hour.. The 80% slowdown is for DCFC only.
