I used those ODBII reading to get the alignment shop to zero the steering wheel out.

Do you drive up curbs at full lock often? It looks shaved to me which is why I think it's rubbing that under panel.
nope, I rarely drive/park in town where there are any curbs... mostly no curbs, head-in or diagonal parking.

and no, no full lock turning, and no rubbing on suspension, aprons, or anything I can see,

thanks, I will give this to alignment shop when I get next set of tires later this fall.

unless you think that by doing alignment NOW, the tires I have may last another 5,000 miles ?

It wouldn’t ever hurt to get the alignment done. Lots of places do 6 to 12 month ‘warranties’ for them.

I have mine done 3 or 4 times per year, good for tyre wear and range??

Actually, I should take that back. I did have an incident with Midas and my Lightning on a lift where it wasn’t in park when they got out so it backed off the lift That hurt with about $9k in damage and myself and the tech nearly run over.

@dtbaker61 I just rotated my CR1 AWD tires yesterday at 22K mi and noticed the exact same wear pattern on all four tires. Didn't notice it last time I rotated at 15K mi, but it may not have been as noticeable with the overall lower tire wear at that time.

In general I'm pretty good about running 38-40 PSI so it shouldn't be that. I do make a pretty tight turn info my driveway and up the curb cut, so maybe it is rubbing like @azerik mentioned. I'll check and see if I can see anything.

it's NOT rubbing on anything.

only culprit I can think of is that the aftermarket wheels I have may have a slightly different 'centerline' offset than stock tires on stock wheels, combined with slightly wider tires, may result in wrong camber when turning... and I do a fair amount of driving on twisty mountain roads.

Camber is just the angle off of vertical, so wheels and tires have no effect on it. Offset serves to move the bisecting plane of the tire either inboard or outboard of the hub face. Wear on the inboard shoulder of a tire can generally attributed to excessive negative camber, a toe-out condition, excessively crowned roads, or a combination of these. There are other rare factors. ??

Last alignment I had showed camber within specs. I do mostly suburban and rural driving on a mix of two-lane Highway, and a lot of dirt roads. I don't think crowning on the road is an issue, so I don't know what to attribute the Inside Edge. wear to...

Hi All,
I just bought a set of Cross Climate 2 and I asked the tire shop to show me the old tires and they all had this same wear pattern where the inside of the tires where more wore. (I'll add photos later). My alignment was within spec as well. after 45k miles on the original OEM tires, it was very interesting. The shop said it could be because of the torque. But I'm really not sure. I do a lot of highway driving around 70-80mph and have driven my MME from the OBX to CA and back (amazing roadtrip btw). I'm curious how, "abnormal" this wear is for the MME.
