Installed CarScannerPro on MMB player. Now getting OBD data on the Mach E screen

With a WiFi Dongle, now I can have access to all OBD data on the Mach E screen. Live data and trend data. I will have to build a custom dashboard of important stuff. Pretty cool!

You purchase a third party device that allows you to mirror your screen like this:

Then he's just using the data from CarScanner which is an app to show on the screen.

There's apps that will allow you to do this for free without having to interface with a third party device that plugs in as well. A common one is AAAD (https://github.com/shmykelsa/AAAD)

I tried AAAD and could never get it to work. It requires using an older version of Android Auto and the Mach E doesn't like the older version and immediately upgrades to the newer version that doesn't work with AAAD.

Thank you so much for the explanation and giving me a couple options. I already have CarScanner setup and have an IPhone. So I think from what I have read, the third party device is what will work for me and gives me some other opportunities. Correct me if I’m wrong but it looks like the second option works for Android phones only.

For the MMB no you don't. The data he is displaying, yes you do. But the MMB can be used to stream twitch, YouTube, Netflix etc.

Yeah that was me asking shitty question lol. So, OBD2 dongle required for CarScanner data... copy.

Yes. I have the WIFI version. You cannot use a BT one. It locks up the MMB. Connect the MMB to the WiFi of the Dongle and it works. This is what I have…..

I am timid too. But using it for this purpose there is no internet connectivity. I removed payment methods from my Google account.

so.... I already have the 'regular' carscanner app on my phone... If I install this AAAD app, and then re-download-install a AA-friendly version on my phone I can display WHATEVER phone app I want on center screen with AndroidAuto?

Or is this only for Apps that are already 'blessed' by AndroidAuto?

This has been the problem with displaying CarScanner for me... CarScanner is no listed as an available AA App.
