I have the same hitch from Etrailer.Bought a number of them from there. Good company! It was my first time using a fishwire which just takes patience. Just used the bike carrier yesterday as Spring has fully sprung here in the Mitten State

You said bikes as in plural. Try to lighten them as much as possible. Remove anything on their racks and remove the batteries if possible. Two electric bikes hanging very far from the vehicle have a lot of weight - twisting force (torque?). I had to replace a hitch that was bent. Don't know if it was from the ebike (100+ lbs) with SLA batteries or a pop-up trailer I hauled over questionable roads years ago. I'll be installing a hitch as soon as the warranty is up. And using Lithium batteries now.

Good point . There’s e-bikes and super porky e-bikes. Don’t overload the bike carrier rating. There is more torque on the hitch with heavy bikes and lumpy roads than you might believe. Watch some of the Thule testing videos on slow speed and you’ll get the picture.

Keep in mind that Curt is rated for 200lbs of tongue weight. That includes the bike rack, and the bikes.

Did you have to cut the trim/ facia? My OCD is not letting me do that lol

Yes we did as the hitch needs the space. We used a jig saw . We made the cut smaller than the instructions said. You have to lay under the rear to even see that isn't been cut.

Nice. I've been mulling over whether I want a hitch, t'would be used mainly to tow a small utility trailer for trips to the landfill/transfer station, landscaping materials (small loads of topsoil, wood chips, mulch, etc. And then, once you have a trailer, you gain a lot of friends, so there's that, too. Did you do the actual install yourself? How is it wired for trailer lights, was that part difficult? I can't do any of that so would need to find a reputable shop, preferably one with prior MME experience.

I did it myself and bought the hitch on ebay $237. I have= a lift so that made it easy. The harness for lights is right there as soon as the lower cover is removed. I did not do lights. I only carry that small honda. Good luck!

Ford has actually dropped the ball for the USA owners. The European owners get a dedicated Mach E hitch with "reinforcement" plates to counter the thin wall body/frame area. European owners are to tow within and under a 62-mph speed limit. The USA owners get nothing. It pisses me off.

I keep telling myself I'm going to add a hitch, but haven't gotten to it. If i wait long enough I'll buy a Lightning and won't need the hitch

Might want to double check the max weight you can put on there, lots of reports of frame damage from putting too much weight, too far out, especially with bike racks. The car frame is pretty thin. It doesn't matter what the hitch is rated for, you need to check the safe weight for the car frame, the number rattling around in my head is 162lbs, but I'm not sure that's right. I think I saw that posted here by @MachLee but that might not be right either.

When I install a hitch I'll go with the Ecohitch, it has reinforcement by also attaching to the bumper mounts, so it doesn't just rely on the thin frame.
