Speaking of buttons, I want one button vent control / air recirculation on off

Way too much work to reach over and press screen here and press screen there when there might be emergency stenches and emissions we want to avoid

I do drive a MME, and have for three years. I'm on my third one. I love it - best vehicle I've ever had, and I've driven thousands in my career. That being said, no product from any automaker is perfect in everyone's eyes, and I'm not going to pretend that the MME is any different.

Feedback noted. I understand your opinion on the design / UX decisions. I will share it with the folks who have a say in the software development like I do with all the information I glean from the community. I am here to be the voice of y'all to the folks inside the company, and vice versa. I'm here to be your comrade - there is no benefit to inflammatory comments directed towards me.
@Ford Motor Company You don’t have an easy job Brian. My observation is most here sincerely appreciate your efforts and position. But given the tendency of a few here to shoot the messenger, I hope you have a flak jacket and get hazardous duty pay.

I have yet to experience any excitement, nor have I ever seen anything surpassing a “meh” response from others when any company has announced AI enhancements to their product. Everything I have seen seems to indicate this is not a selling point, yet marketing teams continue push it.

I am a total tech nerd, I am a programmer by trade, but AI does little to excite me.

And yet Chevy figured it out from the very start on their EVs despite all their other failures.
The problem is, non scientific polls not withstanding, is that they’re going to annoy a large number of folks every time they clutter up the car with buttons. Many folks are quite content with the way things are in the Mach-e, for example.

Depends on the use case. Our teams use AI quite a lot at work to do actual, useful work. I used Copilot over the Christmas break to do a little Vibe coding on my own website, and depending on the task, was really quite good. But these are very concrete programming / developer tasks and as a tool, AI agents can be really helpful.

But I'm a bit skeptical about this specific use case, and of course how Ford is going to use our data as it trains its model.

Now if in the future the AI agent is running locally, on a dedicated chip with the data that lives in my car - and never leaves my car - than maybe.

I'll pre-empt @RickMachE - "Still no..."

Here are a few things I would like to see the AI capable of doing:
  • Export charging history for a date range into a CSV file, or generate a graph.
  • Give me average kWh/mile stats (based on miles I actually accrue on the odometer!).
  • Assess the health of my LVB and HVB.
The thing I would ultimately like to see is work with a prompt that goes like this for trip planning like ABRP:
"Plan me a trip from Atlanta to Houston. Put in a charging stop every 2-3 hours; and make sure I arrive at each charging stop with at least 20% battery left. Prefer Electrify America charging stations and avoid Tesla charging stations whenever possible. Find me a hotel wherever I end up around sunset. I have a golden retriever."

I would want the AI to already know what car I am driving and its starting state of charge. Then, it would find me a few hotels, making sure that they take large dogs, and take me to their reservations page. Finally, I want the route programmed into the car's navigation system so that it is there when I hop in.

Your first 2 bullet points aren’t really AI related. I agree though,, it would be cool if we could get at this data easily.

Most of your trip planning prompt can be handled by ABRP. It doesn’t have the greatest interface, but it does do a good job planning trips.

TLDR.

Listen, any chance of making sure your Ford dealership technicians are trained in your technology so that I don't have to search the Mach e Forum and give my service advisor the TSB numbers?

Thanks...

I really don't need any more physical buttons... It's my observation that those pushing for buttons are car reviewers unwilling to spend two minutes learning a new car, and those that change the temperature endlessly instead of letting the thermostat do it's thing... I have all the buttons I need... thanks.

Honestly, if this fixes the fact that asking the voice assistant to navigate me to the nearest charger starts navigating me to a charger 4 states away, then i’m all for it.
