Don't forget in iOS17 you can now have Apple Maps download a set area to your phone in case you drop out of cellular range (no more driving on a beige grid when signal drops out) Essentially offline maps - which is a long overdue feature.

Was it implemented better than Google? Google was dumb you look at an area of a map and say download. When I was traveling along the coast of CA and into Oregon I had to do a lot of moving and downloading vs just saying download these 2 states. Boom Done! Your image seems to imply you can download larger areas. The automatic updates is a nice touch.

I installed the beta. Here’s what it looks like… It says there were 17 chargers (seems like a lot?). So that top “Chargers” number must be the number available.

How’s PAAK working so far on the beta?

I think the implementation is slightly better in AppleMaps over the way Google did it.

It allows you to download multiple windows of map that you can choose by cropping and zooming the borders - or if like me you just want a pretty substantial area (like the whole of the United Kingdom) it will accommodate that too as long as you have the necessary storage available.

So far a big thumbs up from me :)

So I guess Ford needs to add hooks into battery preconditioning so that Apple Maps and other similar systems can tell the car that it’s on the way to a charger and to start preconditioning the battery N number of minutes out from that charger. ??

That would be great, but how about even just a notice when using the built in nav that preconditioning has started?

Personally, I think all EV's should default to nag screens informing drivers how charging works and what charging etiquette is. I'm sure many people have no idea that navigating to a charger will enable faster DCFC charging - which makes it faster for them, as well as those waiting. Or perhaps a notice to those who plug in and leave the car for an hour or two while they shop/eat/etc that they should not leave a car plugged in once charging has stopped.

Yes, it would be annoying to those of us who know - but like all nag screens they can be turned off, or even no longer display after the first X amount of notices. Dealers certainly aren't educating EV drivers, but maybe the car can.

So Something during setup that is interesting is that when it allows you to setup preferred networks it's based off your vehicle automatically. Also in settings you cannot just what connectors you use. It will let you select Tesla Superchargers as a network option, but unsure if it will even use it since those ports are not compatible.

Not in an area where I can test it either. There is definitely UI differences in stations, which I hope changes to be more uniform and easier to understand.

Other differences:

1. Alerts only now minimizes the guidance box to a small indicator on the top left side.
2. When creating a route, you can select different preferred networks to the right of the vehicle selection. (Great if you want to avoid certain locations for one specific route.)
3. Siri Suggested locations will now show battery percentage upon arrival.
4. When creating a route, you can now see your EV battery percentage upon arrival to each stop instead of just the final destination.
5. UI when in Messages app to send a message is different and no longer full screen.
6. SharePlay icon on Now Playing screen will reveal nearby contacts to add, as well as a QR code for other users to scan with their iPhone.

I will add some images to this list later. Also could a moderator merge, close or delete this original thread: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-live-ev-charging-station-availability.28492/ (Looks like this one got more traction.)

Time for an iPhone upgrade as my trusted 8 Plus will no longer be supported in iOS 17. Well, I got the full 5 year run out of it. :)

If we want things added, send feedback to Apple.
Yes, and definitely send feedback for tweaks. If you're in the beta, this is part of the job you signed up for without knowing. ;)

Here are some screenshots of the new UI.

So far these are the big ones I have seen. Also Siri does not give a prompt anymore when it asks you a question. Not sure if that's intentional or not. (As in a sound to tell you when it's listening.)

Thank you!

Defiantly would like to see Miles between the ETA and SOC information when in route. There's plenty of room for it.

Hopefully they are also adding the ability to modify the car’s SoC for trip planning. Requiring the phone to reconnect to the car for an SoC update make’s accurate trip planning with Apple Maps quite annoying.
