iPhone 15 Pro GPS is worthless!

Just here to whine.

Got the new iPhone 15 Pro and unless I have that thing up against the glass roof, the GPS on it is worthless!

Apple Maps/Waze constantly loses my position by half a mile. It has no idea where I am at in downtown Seattle. Sometimes I’m coming out of the parking garage at work, sometimes I’m in the middle of Elliott Bay!

Driving somewhere you’ve never been before? Yup! Good luck! The phone will have no idea where you’re at when you need to make a crucial turn!

Wow very strange. I also live in Seattle and never had a problem. I have the 15 Pro Max with Verizon. Now if I am on Cap Hill everything seems to be weak signal

That’s how you’ve had to restart since iPhone 11.

Holding vol up and the lock button always worked for me. Until recently when it started tripping the emergency call instead. Probably a setting somewhere. But it doesn’t look like the restart did anything.

This is a Mach-E problem not iPhone. My other vehicles with CarPlay work fine.

Just giving you a heads up...

I did a full reset without restore 2 days ago. I have driven a few times and so far it seems like my core issues are fixed. I was able to drive with my phone in my pocket and the GPS stayed pretty close to accurate. Before if it was in my pocket my location would be so far off and would stop updating. It seems to be behaving close enough to where it did 2 phones ago when I had no complaints.

Keep in mind though...this is 2 days and only 4 or so drives. I will update if anything changes though.

I just recorded feedback on Sync to address this issue so hopefully they will look into it. If more people report it they may!

I'll hold out for a week. My bigger worry is if my TOPT is tied to my log in or a device ID. I was hoping I could find 'this one trick' to reset it without having to start from scratch, but I'll do it if I must.

After what i thought was a fix...
ios17.1 and some time i set a route to a shop.
Driving down the main road the arrow was spot on. Oh nice! It might be resolved. Got to the shop but they had a round about right in front of the shop, as I started rounding the roundabout I saw the arrow dart off on the first right, which I was not on, then it jumped to the second right which I was not on either as I was going around in a circle, then it proceeded to 'drive' through the building to the street behind it. This parking lot/roundabout has been there for +15 years. OK. so it's not much improved.

Next trip I was on Scottsdale road. 4 lanes plus a turn lan on each side headed north. Needed to find the actual Princess resort this time, not the one Ford decided was 9 miles closer. I punch in the address, map on the phone shows correct, I hit go. Carplay then shows me turning right and driving about 1/4 mile down Camelback east bound. All the while I have driven through the intersection and continued north, straight ahead.

From the looks of it the maps are now using some type of predictive adjustment rather than an actual precision point. If I had to guess I'd figure it's because at some point some ipad or other phone I had is messing up the actual precision tracking. In it's current state it's totally useless to me.

Also to note if I use the maps on the phone and set the map tracking to >- (whatever this thing is so it's facing the direction I'm facing) when I walk it tilts like I'm looking at the house across the street, then the one next to me, then the house across the street etc. With each step I take. But it doesn't do it when just standing and tilting the phone a little. Also does it without my watch on. To me this is a bunk mounted antenna or something loose in the phone. I'm no Godzilla but I do have some weight in my step, but not enough to cause GPS signals to wobble.

I still have GPS issues on iPhone, while my android GPS works perfect. i have powerup 6.7 with all module updated.

Ok I still think its a Mach-E issue because GPS tracking in my other CarPlay vehicles are not a problem.

Nope. I’m on 6.7 and iOS 17.2 release candidate beta. It was worse for me this week, GPS was fully pausing for super long stretches of time.

They’ve been mostly resolved for me since the last two iOS updates. Mostly.

Ok I still think its a Mach-E issue because GPS tracking in my other CarPlay vehicles are not a problem.

It was persistent on my vehicles including our 2020 Raptor which has no OTA capability. It’s mostly gone now for the most part. I also never have had that issue when using native navigation.
