okay, then I have BAE from FDRS (not via OTA.) Maybe it's 1.3 or maybe it's still 1.2 and waiting on some other component. (I also have an older version of sync - old icons.)

It's difficult to know. I'm fully updated in FDRS, but that doesn't mean I have the latest firmware for all my modules. It's possible that FDRS isn't presenting some updates. Maybe Ford is going to wait exactly 48 hours and then open up more updates via FDRS in order to force me to spend another $50. ;)
Performance wise it should be 1.3 if you have lane change unlocked. If you don’t…guess that is still a forscan change then.

Cool so you have the BC1.3OTA then. Would of loved to see what you were on before.

My car is a 2023 job 1. I started with BC 1.2 and everything should be unlocked. (BC 1.2 included lane change)

I was on the formally believed to be 1.4 from FDRS but that got overridden by BAE 1.3.

Do you know the IPMA version of 1.4?

RJ6T-14H102-ACJ

The 1.2 version that’s listed on the OP is actually what they sent out for the 1.4 test and made public on FDRS. I‘m not sure what the proper version for 1.2 is.

Great just wanted to confirm! I think this pretty much proves that Ford decided just to keep confusion down and stay with BC1.3 naming. Cars with factory BC1.3 are getting the update so it would have been BC1.4.

^^^^^^
This...thank you, thank you, thank you....... So-called "BC 1.4" is not as capable as the tuned up BC 1.3 being sent out now. Folks should focus on BC 1.3 going forward and FTLOG please stop talking about BC 1.4! ?

IPMA was updated at least twice, and possibly three times, (I've lost count) in the last year since I got my '23J1 with BC 1.2. So what it shipped with got tuned several times. "-ACJ" was the last thing sent out before the officially released "-BAE" BC 1.3 update.

No. Not necessarily. That isn't how the updates work.

On a new car you get BC 1.3...right....who's to say they don't come out with an IPMA and PSCM update that fine tunes it a bit a little while later? It's still BC 1.3 afterwards unless they announce that they're adding a new feature or something that would cause a revision change.

The only change for BC1.4 was that it would stay engaged longer so probably why the decided against the rev change.

My opinion is that the version numbers (1.2, 1.3 and 1.4) are, at this point, just marketing fluff and almost completely meaningless.

Ford has taken something as simple and trivial as versioning numbers and confused the crap out of it. You can't even say that higher numbers represent later builds, because obviously some aspects of "1.3" are later than "1.4"

I think their initial mistake, which they have yet to admit, is that the 1.4 version was leaked by their own teams unintentionally. From what I can see, the public wasn’t even supposed to know about 1.4, it was to remain internal to EA only.

Only reason we know about it is because we are keeping an eye on these updates and care about these things. The general public and vast majority of people will see 1.3 and just think it’s the next logical progression of the software from 1.2.

To this day, Ford still hasn’t told us what was wrong with 1.4 to cause them to stop the OTA. All we know is that it was of “good enough” quality for them to leave it in FDRS while they fine tuned it some more. This new fine tuned version is 1.3, which is currently going public for 2022s/2023s.

Once 2021s receive the green light for 1.3, the 1.4 version that’s currently in FDRS for them will too be gone and in the past.

@garyd9 is right, the versioning really doesn’t matter at this point. All that we should be concerned with is that BC 1.3 is the latest version available.

What numbers are we looking at here to decide which version we have? The software p/n, or the “more details” DID F188? According to fdrs, my f188 is rj6t-14h102-bae. My software p/n is pj8t-14h102-sbp. Should I have 1.3, because I don’t have the lane change option available when using hands free bc, which I assume means I’m not on 1.3?

Now that a lot of 2023/24 cars are getting BC 1.3 OTA update, can anyone check the IPMA version to see if its the same as older MYs? I can update the first post if its different.
