I have a 2025 Premium, Metal roof. I grabbed the baby monitor, went into my dark garage. And I can easily see myself through the windshield with all the lights out and night mode active. Funny enough, the "driver awareness" sensors above the steering wheel make my face look like it's being lit up by the sun on my baby monitor. So I know the camera is IR sensitive. I checked the windshield print/numbers and I don't see anything that indicates something special. Outside of Sound screen.

I am going to test my radar this week in a regular old spot. Uniden R3, it's been highly sensitive in my last car. I have been driving without it since I got the MME. Anyone have any insight into if I need to play games with mounting all my stuff by the black dots at the top of the windshield? I already have my Toll Transponder up there.

If your windshield has IRR blocking capabilities, it should have an IRR label on the right corner of your windshield.

It should look like what's mentioned in this thread: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/panoramic-roof-is-not-irr.6055/

Ford has been known to remove features from the car without warning so you may also want to refer to your owner's manual to see where you should mount your transponders and radar detecting devices. In my 2023 manual, the section you're looking for is called, "Installing the vehicle identification card."

Thanks. That's what I was looking for earlier. I don't have an IRR windshield marking as in that photo. And I don't have the crazy mirror effect from other posts when viewed with an IR camera.

STILL. Ford recommends mounting stuff in the dotted corners. But that could also be a hangover from not wanting multiple manuals. Just a catch all. I'll report back after a weeks worth of radar usage and see how well it detects.

@RandallOfLegend, would you mind sharing a photo of the right corner of your windshield? Just curious to see what labels are on your windshield.

It sound like Ford removed another feature from the car because their data said people were still buying sunshades so there wasn't a need for Ford to include something that was going to be redundant. ?

IRR windshields have never been included from cars with metal roofs. My poverty spec (i.e. metal roof) 22 GT also doesn’t have an IRR windshield.

I don’t have confirmation but my suspicion is that because metal roof cars don’t have the solar heat gain from the glass roof, Ford didn’t think it was necessary to include IRR on the front windshield. So our cars get a bit toastier from the front. Still a cost savings for Ford, but something that has been consistent and not newly taken away.

^^^^ Toesin is correct. I was just going to post this and he beat me to it. No glass roof = no IRR windshield. My first two Mach-E's had a glass roof with IRR windshields. My current Mach-E has a metal roof so not IRR. I had my detail shop apply 70% ceramic tint on the inside of the windshield as well as all the other windows. I like to have as much UV rejection as possible.

As a side note, if anyone has constant issues with their windshield cracking or susceptible to lots of pitting from rocks being thrown up, I would recommend a clear film windshield protector. I have a friend in Arizona who was constantly getting cracked windshields and lots of pitting requiring his windshields on both cars to be replaced yearly. He no longer has this issue with the windshield protection film. I had this applied when I bought the car 9 months ago and my windshield still looks brand new. There are two little nicks out of the film where rocks had hit it but windshield is perfect.
