I’ve ordered a ‘22 Premium AWD ER. The order is dated 11/8. I found the same car with a $2000 ADM in a ‘21 in stock. I am able to take full advantage of the $7500 tax credit. Do you think I would be able to sell/trade to update to my ‘22 without losing money on the deal? Likely to have less than 5k miles at that point. Get out your crystal balls, people!

Well, considering the price of that car just went up $2k for 2022, I’m going to give it a definite maybe. I think the chances are good.

No one knows. You couldn't pay me to pay ADM, but then again we get A-Plan.

I am looking at a similar concept - getting our ordered 21, now 22, in Q1 and selling our 2021, assuming we can do better than breakeven.

With a $2,000 ADM, you're basically equivalent. The question is whether you can sell the car for what you paid for it (doubtful) in 6 - 8 months or so. Nobody knows.

Actually, nobody know but you. Is getting it sooner worth $2000 to you?

Don’t forget to factor in tax, title, and registration when crunching the numbers to see if it will work.

I know we’re big on No ADM around here. But 2K isn’t all that much in relation to the overall price of the car. For a line skipping convenience Fee that allows me to capitalize on the known tax status of the year that’s almost over…. I’d go for it.

I would absolutely take it if I could find one near me for only $2,000, but that's just me LOL

Yup. It's adding $6,200+ to my Mach E's total in about 7 months. That hurts.

I'd pull the trigger on an AWD ER with only $2K markup - assuming you don't get hit with a ton of bad dealer add-ons. The usual markup is $5K and you could resell or trade in your 2021 for probably no loss IMO.

Also. It will be a year old. New models coming out right around the corner. If you feel like gambling, try it. My opinion, to much work, for what?

I'd say if you were keeping it, but just to have the car for five months, not sure it's worth it.

I agree that we're not big on ADM here but after 6 months of waiting with no communication from Ford I had enough and pulled the trigger and purchased a car with $2k ADM on the lot from another dealer. I hated to do it as I never did that before and usually purchase my cars significantly below MSRP and some I have even used the X-Plan but this was the first car which I ordered and I just ran out of patience. I had found the same car at other dealers prior to buying the one I have and at each one they were asking more ADM (around $5k). I tried to get them to sell at X-Plan or MSRP with no luck (and then a lower ADM fee) but I ended up walking away and lost those cars. Also. because I felt bad that I had backed out of my original order I found somebody on this board who wanted my car and I connected him with the dealer and everything worked out well there too. Bottom line, do what you think is right for your personal situation.

If your goal is to buy a new car, drive it for 5 months and make money………..

that’s risky.

If your goal is to buy and keep it, do it!!

Who knows what demand/supply will be like next year? At some point things will equalize and you can walk up and buy one off the lot. Then your used car will be worth thousands less.

But for $2k and guaranteed $7500 credit, I would rather have a 21 now than wait 5 mo (or longer) for a 22.

No way, the 21's are about to become 1 year old and I wouldn't pay a penny over msrp at this point.

We ate $2k ADM, $1k shipping, and a $200 day trip to southern IL, in order to secure our SR Select AWD Mach-e with the comfort/tech package after putting in an order for an ER Premium AWD in mid-October because we needed the tax credit for this year, wanted the car ASAP, and was offered 0.9% for 48 months. YMMV, of course.

Absolutely no regrets since we love love love this car, and if our special order ever gets built and delivered, lol, we may take that one, too.
