My early build Mach E has been in the shop since February 17, for the HVBJB problem.

Yes, I have a case with Ford, and yesterday I started the buy back process.

I have little faith in the service department. They hardly call, and always have some reason progress isn’t happening.

Here’s my question- Last Wednesday the service manager called and said they had 50% progress- they had the battery out. This week they told Ford they were having problems getting the computer programmed. So—- the entire time the car has been there, all its info shows up on my Ford App. Is it possible that even having a battery/some batteries out of the car, and the computer not programmed, that accurate info would show up in the App?

I just have doubts about the work “being done” on the car. Thank you.

In theory, as long as the 12V battery still has sufficient charge, yes, the onboard systems should still operate. When they talk about programming 'the computer', that's pretty vague as there are many modules that have software in them.

Another thing to check on the app is the 'last updated XX days/hours ago'. It could be you are getting old information sent out by the car before they started working on it.

But, yes, dealership/service departments will lie their asses of if they feel the need.

It's within your rights to go to the dealer and ask to see the car. Might be a surprise. If they balk, ask Ford to get it sent to another dealer as this is warranty work.

So very sorry to hear this. Would you mind telling us what dealership is this? It's useful to keep track of the good, the bad, and (what you're dealing with) the downright ugly.

I just received a call that the car is repaired, and they are charging it.

This was Marin County Ford, Novato, CA.

I am going to be optimistic, and say that all will be fine with the car.

Get a detailed print out of everything they did, not just the usual “We fixed it” thing. Go through it to see exactly what was fine snd keep a copy of it. As you’re well aware, at this point an HVBJB repair should not take 6 weeks.

I have my car! And I have Ford buyback papers filled out!

The car has new battery packs, although the service guy couldn't tell me how many the car has, to know what percent were replaced. And another recall - for the air/heater system.

Right now I am happy to have Mr. Ed back.
