You already know this, but low serves a completely different purpose than 1PD.

People like options and the ability to adjust the drive modes to our liking.

I still think we need even MORE customization not less! Allow us to adjust steering feel, regen and suspension stiffness independently of each other and in both 1PD and 2PD!

Low did exactly what it should have- mirror and ICE vehicle in low. Great for coasting down mountains in 2PD or for people who like 2PD and whisper suspension setting but lots of regen.
I totally agree on my Mustang Dark Horse you have three steering settings and three suspension settings for the MagneRide. The 4 Exhaust settings probably would not apply the Mach e GT.

Just went from 22 GTPE to 25 GTPU And I noticed the L missing right away because I used to drive in whisper and use the L for added regen when needed. It does feel like they recalibrated to drive modes, and now I use unbridled and it seems to give me the perfect amount of regen whereas before I didn't like it. So it is missing, it is annoying not to have it on demand, but after a week I have a really noticed it anymore and I'm driving in unbridled more.

I should add I do like that they did get rid of things ring shifter, it was never a great piece of design a faceplate with the letters would pop up a little bit making it hard to click and we have to be pushed down the reset back into the hole. It really bothered me and I try to get it fixed and of course it wouldn't pop up for the service center, but then popped up a few days later.
I like that they added the icon for the Drive Mode you are in like in other Fords. I also noticed that it will stay in Unbridled even when you cycle the power. My Bronco and Regular Mustang always default back to Normal mode when cycling the power button.

Why couldn’t you just switch on 1PD in those situations instead of L? It accomplishes the same thing.

I agree there could be more drive mode customization, but it seems like the way L works is mostly the same as 1PD.

I don't use 1 pedal. Don't care for it. I like driving in Unbridle. BUT, my wife doesn't like me driving in Unbridle. So, often in Engage. When I'm on the highway, as I'm exiting, I'll hit the L button to slow down on the ramp with regen, since Engage isn't aggressive enough to do so.

Switching to 1 pedal would not be safe while driving, too much eyes off road.

I would not want to lose the L button.

Because I like others don’t like 1PD.

Yes you could switch to unbridle but then you have stiffer suspension settings and heavier steering.

L button is also much faster and easier to access than the other settings.

People just don’t like change. Especially when change involves taking away something we use.

Why not just use the brake pedal?
It’s more work and less smooth if you’re going down a mountain with curves.

Call it laziness or convenience but it’s the same reason why you barely see manual transmissions anymore and why cruise control and now even hands free driving are popular.

People tend to pick the ā€œless workā€ option vs the ā€œmore workā€ option the vast majority of the time.

I'm always sad when I see a post like this. Spend a lot of money on a vehicle, and learn about features it has years later by reading about them on social media.
But I know it now and I have no use in it ;)
Because I use only one pedal drive and L has no function here.

If you drive in Unbridled, that's true. But if you prefer Whisper or Engage, apparently LO makes the motor braking more agressive, like Unbridled.

Mostly engaged with one pedal.
So you say when I am using one pedal drive and L the recuperation is better?
I'll try it.

Just to be clear, the regeneration (read as efficiency) is the same in all modes if you accelerate and decelerate at the same pace.

The difference is how aggressive the regen is (how quickly you slow down) when you let off the accelerator.

And yes, L mode is more aggressive than engage.
The modes are more about driving feel than efficiency.

I don’t actually know if ā€œLā€ works in my car because I’ve never used it. Not even once. I also turned 1pd on before I left the dealer’s lot when I bought it and haven’t turned it off since. I should probably test this L thing and 2pd out sometime. :p

I tried 1PD on my 2021 and didn’t like it. My 2024 has never seen 1PD and I switched it to Unbridled before I took it out of Park before my test drive. I also don’t know if L works since I only use Unbridled. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ©

I couldn’t have told you what it does. I have a ā€˜21, and read the whole manual. I even tried it.

But after 4 years of not using it since it’s not very useful I had totally forgotten it was even there, let alone what it did.
