I finally used my Frunk for something, the first time since I've owned the car - hiding a birthday present for a grandson and opening the Frunk for a fun reveal. The size of the thing (a hoverboard) made me remove the Frunk divider so it would fit.

So my question for the forum brain is should I put it back in? Is it useful for anythng other than keeping loads from shifting around while driving? If I never use the Frunk for carrying loads is there any other purpose to it?

It was put there for safety compliance since the Feds hadn't approved Ford's software for the frunk release until some time before the 2021 Job2 cars came out (and after the 2021 Job1 cars haad already started shipping, obviously). There's no need for it if you don't transport anything that will shift in the frunk. ?‍♂?

It’s a personal preference. I’ve kept mine in tact and use it for bottles, jugs, etc., so they don’t roll around from the store. I also keep a roll of paper towels and glass cleaner in there. Always upright and tidy!

frunk divider, rear beauty cover & under hood cover were the first things I removed and recycled.
10# of plastic I could do without.....

depending what tools, or recreation, or shopping I am loading up for, I have a couple sets of cardboard boxes pre-loaded that drop in perfectly for quick exchanges loading and unloading at job sites and home.

We keep 3 foldup chairs and can tire sealant in frunk. Great storage option and no divider.

Thanks everyone. I knew it could not be structural but wondered if maybe there was some design purpose I was missing. It will stay out!

Is the Frunk divider necessary?

Nope!

Not unless your kids are stupid enough to find themselves in there and are then as incredibly and inversely Houdini-like that they can then shut the bonnet whilst in there??‍♂

About as pointless and aimed at the abjectly stupid as the warning on MaccyDees coffee cup stating that the hot drink contained within is hot?

Tyre inflater, puncture repair kit, defib, first aid kit, oils, freeing agents, gallon of petrol, gallon of diesel and tools in mine!!

???

I believe there were some non structural issues so you’ll be good. I am thinking of taking my last bit out to see how it goes. Extra space is good too.

Well since my kids are 49 and 45 I don't think that's an issue. :)

Mine are 33 & 36 and it’s the fridge I have to worry about when they come around for a sponge?

I’ve left one side in so I can drop milk jugs etc. it’s my fridge/freezer section from the supermarket. Useful with cross border shopping.
I did that for quite awhile as well. Eventually I found I was cramming so many groceries into the Frunk that mouthing could possibly roll. ;)

I actually moved the frunk from my 2021 to my 2022 when I sold the 2021. I modified the divider so you can pull out the middle piece and have 3 larger sections. And, with a few minutes and a trim tool, it all comes out.

We don't use the frunk on a daily basis. It stores a blanket, 2 ponchos, a snow shovel, a fire extinguisher, a bottle of V8, and a towel. 1/2 of it is empty. We find it easier to put groceries in the back, and a cooler if necessary. If we have a lot of stuff, we take the Lightning. It's frunk is more usable and more easily accessed.

But… Isn’t out the front boot on your side of the pond? ??
