Is the "self parking" feature gone forever?

I'm also confused by this... My 21 has no side sensors. 4 in front, 4 in back. That's it. The ones nearest to the corner can see a bit around the side, but not a ton... Is that what you're referring to?
All Mach-Es have the same number of sensors, but the late 22s dont have the side ones active. So of the 4 in the front and 4 in the back only 2 of each are active.

I own an MME with the "prep kit" for the park assist feature (4-22 build). The merits of the feature aside, has anyone tried talking to Ford Customer Service or a well-informed dealership (I know, I know) about whether we'll ever be offered installation? The silence from Ford is deafening. Even a simple yes or no would be something.

There is nothing to talk about. There will be a kit to install it. The only questions are WHEN, and HOW MUCH?

Well, there certainly would be something to talk about if Ford actually confirmed this one way or another. My question was whether anyone has received any answers from Ford. If you know of any please share. As the owner of one of these cars, I've heard absolutely nothing, and last time I talked to a dealership about it, they hadn't either.

has anyone tried talking to Ford Customer Service
The supply chain shortage is still a real thing, it’s just no longer news. I doubt Ford has a plan just yet for these. In the meantime, you can revel in the fact that self park is a mostly useless feature and a waste of button space. :)

Ford did confirm this. They even made us sign a one-pager acknowledging the car just had the prep kit and that at a future date they would have an after-sale product offering to unlock the functionality.

We do not know (1) when, (2) the details of the solution, (3) how much the parts and install will cost.

Just because Ford has been silent and slow to put out specifics does not mean it isn’t going to happen. They have been silent and slow on a LOT of things that came through eventually, and some we are still waiting on.

No one has heard anything that I've seen posted across multiple forums, or Facebook. The parts aren't yet "plentiful", so whether you'll see kits in 2023 or not, who knows.

My guess, and this is only a guess, is when it ever becomes an option again when ordering a new Mach e then you will see a kit available. I have never used mine and never intend to but that means nothing to those who would like the option and would like to use it. Hopefully at some point it will become available but another guess will be it will cost more that $350 to get it installed.

Early 2022's had it (mine does), while later cars were shipped with a $325 (I think) discount since all that was included was the prep kit (presumably the Park button and not much more). I essentially never use Park Assist for the reasons mentioned by @Nate880 - too long to activate, too unpredictable in real world use (and not well suited to San Francisco streets). I've tried to have it park the car in my garage, but for some odd reason it demurs. ?

I have no such document in my records, but it really wouldn't matter if I did. My simple question is whether anyone has heard any more about this from Ford in the last year. It seems the answer, said in a bunch of different ways, is no.

We are being left to guess, since Ford isn't communicating with us on this one way or another. To your other point, if it ever does become available and they charge us more to install the feature than they credited us for deleting it, then that's a problem. Guessing is pretty random since we don't know exactly what parts were included or left out of our cars.

Thanks, that's my impression too. It's been close to a year since this feature was deleted so it seems with every passing month the likelihood that we'll ever be offered this option gets smaller.

I’m not optimistic on this. Especially if the frunk update for 21 J1s is their track record on keeping their promises.

The supply chain is doing just fine. There is a chip glut now in a lot of sectors. This isn’t about a parts shortage anymore. There is no financial benefit to them getting these parts out, so they will get around to it when/if they are feeling generous
