After hearing and reading several articles about Fords investments and strategies for its Model “E” Line of vehicles, concentrating more on Hybrid rather than all Electric. I’m wondering how much longer the Mach-E will be in production? If you go to the Ford web site, they don’t even have the 2026 advertised. Usually by now there saying something, maybe I missed it. I have a 2023 and was looking to upgrade to a 2026 or 2027 when available.
Anyone have any official inside info, or anything official?

It’s still a good question, and it’s debated on that thread you link to.

Maybe we need to decide on what a Mustang Mach-e even is.

Is it defined by its current platform? If so, then it’s doomed by the new EV platform.

Is it defined by its sportiness (Is a GT a Mustang Mach-e? Does the RWD standard range make the cut?)? It might have a tough road ahead as Ford switches strategy to affordability in EVs.

Is it defined by its name? No clue. The “Mustang” name seemed arbitrary in the first place.

Is it a beautiful run-around that can fit teenagers, their junk, and can occasionally road trip the 400 miles to grandma (is it a RWD standard range)? I like its chances.

Mach-E is a global car so it has a much better chance of surviving than the Lightning. They will likely continue making it as-is for a few more years. Even if not for the US, they can still continue making it for other countries.

We’ll have to wait and see if they make a second generation or just replace it with a cheaper BEV model based on their next gen platform.

I’m not so worried about Ford stopping production in the Mach E since I plan to keep mine for a long time. Who knows what will best meet my needs when I’m ready to get rid of it. I’m more worried about them stopping support for SYNC 4a, specifically updating the navigation, list of chargers (including Tesla), etc. Especially since I pay for connected services and nav!

Been over a year with Teslas not being added into the onboard navigation so probably no need to worry about them not supporting updates at that level….

Odd that Superchargers in native navigation is testing in Lightnings. Or maybe MME early availability folks can keep a secret 🤫?

The original Chevy Bolt lasted 7 years, then the tech was just too far behind. The MME is coming up on 5 years with no significant tech improvements, only a heat pump update. It cannot last much longer.

Short answer, no. There is no future for the mme as we currently know it anyway.

Long answer? For awhile there is. The car, imo, will be left to wither on the vine. Eventually, if Ford stops its doing business like Boeing act, they might have another similar EV and even call it a mme, but that’ll be in name only.

Full disclosure: I also think Ford stopped making Mustangs in 1967. So there’s that.

The Mach-e is locked in on its current platform. It’s aging tech without a clear update path. Ford’s new universal platform (a skateboard design iirc), won’t be stretched or shrunk (as the case may be) to the mme size for several years after the platform’s debut. Until then, what you see is what you get, and by the time they make the changeover, the EV world will have moved on.

Ford entered the battle a day late and a dollar short. It’s a shame.

I hardly think it matters. It is sort of interesting to discuss, but in the long term, it isn't going to change the world one way or another.

I really liked my Olds Starfire and my Pontiac Fiero. Neither no longer exist to buy (new), and I probably wouldn't buy either of them these days. My wife loves her 2008 Mustang but wouldn't buy some years of Mustang. The world moves on.

We love the Mach-E and probably will have it for a very long time, maybe even for the rest of our lives. But at the end of the day, it is just a car that can be replaced. If not by Ford, by some other manufacture.

Ford is the one that should be worried.

To be fair, they were one of the first legacy automakers to make a true good looking long range BEV to go against Tesla (not really counting the Leaf, BMW i3, or Bolt).

Not to mention almost the first EV truck to market (Rivian beat them by a few months).

They just squandered their lead and completely stopped releasing more EVs after the first two and let everyone else eclipse them.

I willing to wager the machE is done after 2026 model year.
Ford has not updated anything really meaningful in this car except an antiquated heat pump that doesn’t make much difference in what I have read so far. Still no faster charging in 2026 models

GM has already provided several great updates to all there vehicles in last 24 months. Tesla is light years ahead in tech.

5 years of this model and we can’t even get a simple pre-condition button or Tesla routing update in nav.

I bet on the wrong horse, Will be moving on from this car before resale plunges even faster .

The 2025 Mach E GT is amazing

If FSD wasn’t almost here there’d be no upgrade available in America for me

It’s vastly sportier than any GM electric (Lyriq V and Optiq V = whales), with far superior drive assist in its 1.5 hands on lane centering anywhere there are lane markings

GM is hopeless off of mapped sections and that is only changing somewhat next year

The 25s (and 24s) also have significantly improved thermals, endurance and removed limiters compared to earlier years. It has a tight turning radius and relatively narrow width for its size. These characteristics make it almost the best electric for weaving through traffic

China is dominating the global market. Without significant upgrades Mach E is really an American car. I say that as a stan of the car

In the next few years Ford will have a whole new lineup on a new platform with new technology. A majorly overhauled Mach E successor can be expected then

I wouldn’t be so harsh. It’s a fantastic car. It’s really hard to think of an upgrade available in America, unless you want to change classes and entire driving characteristics

It’s just not China competitive, and Fsd competitive, though the 1.5 drive assist package on the 2025s is second overall in the US
