My personal vision for something like a next gen mach-e would be to keep it as a crossover, maybe make it slightly smaller, like 10% smaller to help it appeal to escape buyers now that the escape is going away, but not making it so small it loses the practicality. Making it lighter so it's more efficient, but also more fun to throw around corners.

A design that leans even harder into the muscle car look would be awesome, make the mach-e slightly wider, lower, with more squared off tension in the surfaces where you can, just a really sharp design. Maybe make it a little more value oriented.
The current mach-e starts at like 38k I believe, this new affordable EV platform is being designed to be used for vehicles starting at 25-30k. Let's say this mach-e is a little more and is in the low 30s.
so you want an electric Mazda MX-5 crossed with an EcoSport?
It's called the universal EV platform. If you search for Ford skunkworks, or 30k EV truck, you'll learn more about the platform and the team behind it. Entirely new team to Ford essentially.
I think it’s interesting that Ford is trying the same approach again. The problem is that the stated goals (cheap, sub-$30K small pickup) have absolutely no appeal to me. But perhaps that’s just Ford’s way of telling me that I’m no longer a customer? 🤷‍♂️

Earlier this month, I bought three Mach-E t-shirts when they were on sale 25% off. I'm more committed to the car than its maker  . Not full-price committed, but 25% off committed for sure.
Of course those shirts are sold by a 3rd party that licenses the right to sell merchandise for Ford, ERE (Entertainment Retail Enterprises). They do Harley, Disney, Walmart, Hard Rock, ...

I have a bunch of Mach-E and Lightning stuff. Initially, I had a gift card that I had gotten to buy it, but then I bought some more. I'm done with that though.

But, is Cd really a significant consideration if most of the time, the vehicle will be traveling at low speeds (say city/suburban driving, or congested commuting)?
Well, technically they're using a Kamback design iirc. Teardrop with its tail more or less cut off. But I think the specific answer to your question is maximizing range results on the various tests (EPA, WLTP, CLTC,)

Yes. And have you seen it beyond the various prognostications? The same folks touting the T3 as recently as a month ago? Remember "Trust The Truck?" Yeah, it's dead too. Believe it when you see it. The latest news report was that the new series hybrid pickup that so many are gaga about here begins production in 2029. Please note that this does not mean a 2029 model.

Luckily I keep my cars for 10+ years so I don’t have to get emotionally invested in everything Ford may or may not do between now and 2034.

What is built on this new platform? Give us specifics. Where are these things built? Which brand new facilities? Which new team? Are they secretly violating their CBAs with the various unions by bringing this so-called new team to build these EVs? Oh, and what platform is guaranteeing a profitable EV product? The universal unobtainium platform? That’s some magical thinking.
Is any EV manufacturer profitable? Tesla rolled out cheaper versions of its Model Y and 3 cars in November. Their sales dropped 23% year over year. It is their lowest sales in 4 years.
My question is this - can any EV manufacturer make a profit in 2025 without government subsidies or tax incentives?
